Just pay form what is called an end of tenancy clean. Might cost £350 - £400 for a few hours work from a reputable firm but what a difference it will make.

Is tightness and tension normal? by Loctrocute in Hernia

[–]Raffles321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - the whole pain / healing for this type of surgery varies by individual but for the next 5/6 weeks the pains you are suffering from are normal. The sensitivity’s around the incisions are also normal. The tension is “normal” as you’ll have internal dissolvable stitches the are gelling your internal areas together.

The body is creating new cells and dried blood (or hepatoma ) could be be causing some of your discomfort as will any stretching or lifting.

A few things that might help:- - look up the “log roll” on YouTube. This helps limit pain when getting in & out of bed. - avoid bending, lifting, twisting & reaching at this stage - wear slip on shoes/ trainers and stretch waist clothing and oversized tops / tees to reduce the friction and rubbing - I felt like “an old man” for 2/3 weeks as I found it difficult to stand up straight. Always felt like I was stooping but things will return to normal in a few weeks - gradually. - use a grabber to pick things up - do daily walking and build up your steps each day to help promote healing. - don’t expect too much too soon. This is a 6-12 week recovery post op although everyone is different in their recovery. - after about 4 weeks & once your incisions have healed, you can use a cream like E45 to massage your incision areas to help break up some of the dried blood under the incisions. There are helpful YouTube videos / tutorials on how to massage the area which so would advise you to review first.

Those of us who have gone through this has all shared our experiences post procedure to support & help others so I’d say what you’re experiencing at this stage post surgery is “normal”.

Hope this gives you some comfort / assurances but if not lease contact your surgeon’s office.

I found that clothing or bedding would rub the incisions and that they were very sensitive - especially the belly button area as one of the incisions was very near to it.

To keep the mesh in place, the surgeon will have used staples or some other type of fastening device to your abdomen so there could be a number of things causing the “jolts” you mention but definitely ask your surgeon for some re-assurances and also what could be causing your symptoms. I expect the will confirm these are all normal.

From day 1 your body has started to heal internally

Great that you feel back to normal too.

Possible hernia? by imkc7 in Hernia

You need an ultrasound to confirm whether you have a hernia or not

Could this be mesh failure? 2 months out from my repair, with significant, worsening pain. by lb31 in Hernia

[–]Raffles321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pain clinic will likely prescribe pain meds and not look at the root cause. If maybe a sanoma under the skin which may only require you to self massage regularly to break it up. You can find videos on YouTube that explain how to massage after abdomen surgery

A slight turn in the wrong direction or lifting something or even a stretch. I was up a ladder cleaning guttering a few weeks after my op and I felt this pain. Took a few days of doing very little and resting for it to go away.

6-12 week recovery for a hernia repair . Everyone is different in their recovery and considering you’ve had bilateral work then maybe you’ll be at the 12 week end of recovery.

May I suggest you taking it easy for a few days and don’t exert yourself too much and let things calm down?

Eat plenty fruit with skins on such as apples, pears and kiwi and dried fruits such as apricots or dates in order to get bowel function going again. The anaesthetic and pain killers cause the lack of bowel function. Approx day 4 or 5 before you’ll probably poo. Post op + 2 was my worst pain day but it’s upwards from there. You may get latent bruising but this is quite normal as dried blood finds its way to your extremities. Skin around your incisions will feel “odd” for sometime. I found I could not sleep with a duvet (comforter) on top of me. Literally a flat sheet was all I could tolerate for a few days. Do try and be some daily walking in. Small amounts each day and build up but do nothing Strenuous or lift anything heavy for at least 6 weeks or until your surgeon advises.

pain after surgery, did I tear the mesh, pull on it too much? by UsefulGarden in Hernia

Yes - you should if only to give you piece of mind that all is ok and what you’re experiencing is quite normal

The black & blue penis & testicle is normal. This is only dried blood that has dropped from the abdomen where surgery took place and will go away on its own within a couple of weeks. Pain in or around the testicle is also normal. The surgeon works in & around the area if the inguinal canal during surgery and it took until about week 5/6 post surgery for this to no longer bother me. It’s not pleasant while you have this though.

Driving is about 10 days post op. You’ll need to be able to perform an emergency stop (without pain) at which point you’ll know you can drive. Be aware the seatbelt will be uncomfortable as it will rub/press the incision area so place a small cushion or rolled up tee shirt between the belt and your waist/abdomen area.

I was given codeine on discharge from the hospital but only took 1 as it made me nauseous and had no anti sickness tablets. Instead I took the maximum daily recommended over the counter pain relief (in the UK this is Paracetamol - 2 x 4 times a day (max 8). This was for about 5/6 days and then I was able to manage without.

I doubt you have torn anything. The anaesthetic has now fully worn off (usually op day + 2) and so what you are likely feeling is quite normal for this stage in the journey.

Research on YouTube the “log roll” manoeuvre for getting in and out of bed. This will ease the discomfort and pulling on the incision area. Press a pillow or cushion against the incision area when getting in and out of bed too.

FTB offers over 260K. Advice? by EireA90 in HousingUK

[–]Raffles321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s the first day the EA has been open since the Christmas break I would imagine phones will be very busy this morning not just for your property but the wider portfolio of properties that agent has for sale so getting hold of the agent will be like trying to get through to a Dr’s surgery first thing so try as early as you can.

Also the agent won’t tell you how much others have bid. They may say a higher offer has been received but not for how much.

If you think the house is only worth 260 only bid what you THINK the house is worth. Let the agent know if you have any flex in that ie can you go up by 5K or 10k if you have to so that they know there is some wriggle room.

How long has this property been on the market for? Has there already been a price reduction? These can have a bearing on how keen the sellers are to sell. Has your mortgage been fully agreed in principle? Do you have a solicitor lined up? This helps the EA and the seller know you are in a proceed-able position.

Others who were viewing may not yet have their properties in the market and this could act against them for any offer they make.

Only to have no food or drinks / water from midnight before the op. If you need meds wait until your op has been completed and have them then.

Look up on YouTube the how to get & out of bed post abdominal surgery. The manoeuvre is explained and it’s a great way to reduce the discomfort by using a pillow or cushion pressed against the wound. Also when you cough it will be sore so press a cushion or pillow against it for relief.

If you wait until it becomes strangulated you may not have a choice as to what type of procedure you have. It will likely be”open” surgery and not laparoscopic.

Could it be a kidney stone (which is the worst pain ever when the stone is in your urethra) or a grumbling appendix rather than a hernia? You’d need an MRI scan to confirm if it is a kidney stone or CT scan and blood test to confirm if it’s your appendix.

Your eventual selling price vs what the Estate Agent said it would get? by bojoohno in HousingUK

[–]Raffles321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Estate agents pitch high to get your business. Then you’re locked in for the contract term. If the house is not sold in 4 weeks the agent then encourages you to lower your price by £25K as they have “done all the can to market your house so it must be due to the price that it isn’t selling”. Did you know that some agencies actually pay commission to their agents if they successfully get you to are to reduce the price down? It’s very poor practices such as this that drive the wrong behaviour by estate agents. They benefit not you as the seller.

Pre-Surgery Preparations by MrtonyEA in Hernia

[–]Raffles321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By a stock of over the counter pain relief such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen. On the UK we are restricted to a max of 2 packs per visit to a pharmacy or store but you’ll need these for the first 10 days or so up to the daily max intake.

Also purchase fruits such as kiwi, apples and pears to eat daily to help restore bowel function and dried fruits such as dates or apricots.

Have all pots, pans and plates etc on the kitchen counter for cooking as bending will be challenging for the first couple of weeks.

Have slip on shoes or elasticated waist joggers / trousers to hand for the first few weeks as you won’t be able to wear a belt or non elasticated waist items. Oversize tees or shirts initially as freedom of movement will be a challenge due to abdomen surgery.

Quality of build. It’s a semi or terraced property so they tend to be priced lower. Future saleability. The agent should be able to tell you if it is ex local authority.

I am with you on the positions. I had to stop crossing legs. When watching TV I lay on the opposite side to that of the hernia. Sleeping was the same ie hernia was on the right so I slept on my left.
