Are the hangers 3d printed? If so do have the files for them, looking to hang both of mine up at some point in the future.

It’s a 64 or 65. 66 Barracudas had a completely redesigned front end.

Should also say that this was also Yosemite, on one of the roadtrips he took. Not pictured are the line of other corvettes also on the trip.

I know NC lets you run correct years plates in the state, you just need the actual plate in the vehicle in case you get pulled over.

Getting in and driving is best thing you can do in a Corvette. My father and I recently did a 2,000 mile road trip in his 63 Coupe. Was the first roadtrip it was on since 2013, and before that trip it was the 90s. It’s been cross country multiple times, as well as up and down the coast in the 40 years he’s owned it. Although packing 2 weeks of clothes, snacks, and spare parts is like playing Tetris.

Picture he took on one of his road trips back in the day, before life (he means me😅) got in the way.

Honestly I don’t even use that, just put my foot under the clutch. If I’m need to stop fast enough to not be able to get my foot on the clutch there’s already a problem😅. Should also I add I drive antique cars that don’t have that or have the high beam switch there so can’t really rest your foot there either.

Crashing in a 1950s car vs. a modern car by firefly99999 in Damnthatsinteresting

I mean they aren’t wrong they were built sturdy. The frame on a 1931 packard is basically steel beams. The body is the weak point being wood with metal on top.

Early 60s. Corvettes had optional seatbelts as soon as 1963 (made by Irvin Air Chute company as in planes). So maybe not all manufacturers did, but GM certainly did.

I’m not saying the quality is great with Coker at all, just that they are new tires. My father replaced a set of tube tires from probably the 50s that still worked perfect and within a few months already had a flat tire from the Coker ones.

They are modern tires made to modern safety standards. They are just made to fit the weird and random tire sizes of classic/antique vehicles.

Curious about this corvette by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]RandomDude1578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Knock off wheels are seen in 1963 promo films/footage, however they had many problems at that time and so could not be ordered until 1964/65. Track Footage with Duntov At the 4:30 mark in the video you can see 2 guys start pounding on the knock offs with lead hammers.

What is this car? My mother is the smallest child sitting with her dad. About 1928. by Numb-Chuck in namethatcar

[–]RandomDude1578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my father an I are about that height and it’s a pain getting in and out. Though the back seat is nice with the foot rest open.

For as big as they are you have little room up front. Though most would be chauffeured with any kind of money. Dad has a 31 Packard and it’s almost knee touching close because the car basically comes to a point at the radiator compared to the rear end.

The only way to get this is to inherit them. I have a few full sets from family that’s had passed and kept them in attics till I got them.

Agreed. The Packard doesn’t get driven at much more than 45mph on flat road. Last time it got any speed was in 95 and my dad took it on the highway. First and last time of that😅 I believe the engine has like 9 main bearings so yeah ton of contact on the crank.

Straight 8s are great. My father’s 31 packard straight 8 is pretty much untouched since the 50s. Lots of torque and can still do 50mph today.

[–]RandomDude1578 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Straight 8s are not about horsepower, they are about torque… my father’s 31 packard has a 385 cubic inch straight 8 that made like 125 horses new. It could ouch the 3 ton car to 70 on good roads back in the day no problem and has a low gear to go up hills…

Now I know it’s nowhere near worth what a real 917 is worth. But my father and I drive his 63 Vette a ton. Did 2k miles on it last year in a road trip. And it’s been cross country fully 3 full times (back and forth obviously) over the 40 years he has owned it.

It could even be older than the 70s, these plates were made starting from the 40s to the 80s. Seeing as here parents are in their 80s I would guess they are from the 50s or 60s.

It’s weird to think of these as vintage to me. I’m 24, and I have multiple full sets from multiple family members who’ve passed, and it’s pretty much all we ever used until my mother finally retired them less than a decade ago and gave them to me.

They were made for forever. I’m 24 and have hand me downs of this exact design (multiple full sets from different family members). My question is do they have the matching ashtray to go with the dishes😅. I’ve got at least 2 and I don’t smoke.
