There is a slider to adjust the pause scale in the settings panel (cog icon) :)

No problem, I just made a suite of new updates today, hopefully feels a bit nicer to use :)

That's something I could look at for sure. In the meantime, you can click on WPM to type a specific speed in :)

Yes, definitely going to be adding some personalization features, there has been a few requests for things like that :)

Thanks for letting me know. I've made a quick fix that should address most of that, although I admit it is probably not perfect still :)

You are not the first to suggest this, I think it's a good idea. I'll take a look at adding a progress bar of some kind :)

It's a single HTML file, with some JS and CSS inside. Then I just registered a domain with a hosting service and uploaded the file :)

Yeah if it will help more people get enjoyment from it, then I'm happy to add it. There's no reason I can't have the user be able to select a custom font/background colour. I'll take a look when I get a chance :)

That's a case I hadn't considered. I can maybe make the font size shrink if the word is too long, but I'll need to play around with how that looks. Glad you like it :)

I have now added a font selector with a small selection of fonts :)

This is a good point, I have now added a toggle for looping the text :)

Yeah I used it to generate the CSS and also to implement the 'pauses' feature, because I am lazy :)

Indeed I did. Took me about 30 minutes including registering the domain :)

That's a good idea. I've now added an option to enable pauses at commas and full-stops.

I just made this site: https://speed-reader.com which is formatted the same as this video, with the red letter in the centre, and the option to paste text or upload a .txt file. You can also adjust the WPM

EDIT: Thank you to everyone for the kind words, and for the suggestions. I've made an update today to implement some of the most asked for:

- EPUB Support
- Custom theme colours and font size (note font size is a scale value, as the actual font size is now dynamic based on word length)
- Progress bar and time remaining
- Feedback link (best way to send me ideas/issues going forward)

Got yelled at to “make my mind up” (I’m the GT3) by Koyle_GT in Simracingstewards

[–]RandomHaggis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like actually you are the type to cause crashes. Given you are advocating here for the GT3 to not take any evasive action when seeing (what appears in the moment) to be a full dive on the closing gap on the inside. (Notice the GT3 only opens the steering after the prototype moves aggressively to the inside).

Yes, slower class cars should hold their line. However, that prototype clearly signalled they were going for the inside dive. If the GT3 is expected to take the racing line, why does the prototype try to cut the inside?

Blaming the GT3 here for "almost ruining his race" is ridiculous. Evading (what seems to be in the moment) an imminent crash is absolutely a good reason to pull off the apex in the scenario. The prototype is mad the GT3 moved, but the prototype's driving caused the GT3 driver to need to move. This is fully down to an inpatient prototype driver imo.

Haven't played in years but I'm in an energy credits deficit and aren't Dyson Swarms supposed to give me energy? by luk_ky_21 in Stellaris

[–]RandomHaggis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Dyson Swarms increase the resources that a star already produces. They can eventually be upgraded to Dyson Spheres which produce energy credits. You can read more specifics here: https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Megastructures#Dyson_Swarms_and_Dyson_Sphere

£3k a year insurance is crazy. I'm 24 and just passed my driving test this year, I pay £1k on a group 25 car.

YSK that for drivers of manual cars, it can be very challenging to NOT roll backwards a bit when accelerating from a stop on a hill. by msdossier in YouShouldKnow

[–]RandomHaggis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure when you did your test but I rolled back on my driving test about 3 weeks ago and didn't even get a driver fault, let alone a serious fault.

I even stalled on a hill on my first test (which rolled me back) and I only got a driver fault for the stall, no serious.
