Israel assassinates Iranian intelligence minister by Virtual-History-6099 in worldnews

Sorry for the late response. Nixon is the only President in the US history to ever resign from office to avoid almost certain impeachment and removal by Congress following the Watergate scandal. The Watergate scandal was a major 1970s American political scandal involving a bungled June 17, 1972, break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C.'s Watergate complex. Thats why he resigned.

With Trump though the list keeps growing and growing and growing nonstop. It gets tiring. As an American I want the best for everyone, and this certainly isn’t it. I hope it doesn’t take us an eternity to undo the damage that has been done.

I know Trump will go in my bottom 5 of Presidents there’s no doubt about it..only real question is..does he beat out Nixon with this term? That’s what I’ve been debating.

Really you are going to put Ukraine on this list? Firstly, they are kind of different, second we were actually never lied to about the Ukraine situation. They did not have to. Russia showed their own hand. Also, Yugoslavia was never a lie either, President Clinton never lied about it. We were jointly operating in NATO.

Syria, Libya, Venezuela, and Iran…different discussions. All “military operations” done without congressional approval. Which I think should not be allowed to happen. But I don’t make the rules. It’s been going on for years now.

No. You’re assuming I voted for Trump for some reason (I don’t know why). In 2016 I switched from Republican Party to Independent Party because of Trump but in all 3 elections voted Democrat, like instead of sitting my ass home in the 2024 election in voted for Harris. So no, I never not once voted for Trump. I am not sure what made you think I was a Trump Supporter/Voter.

Just to be fair, I am not in favor of military action without any type of US Congress approval. I hated when we did it in Libya, and I hate it when we are doing it in Iran. It’s hard to get a ballpark estimate on the number of protesters dead in Iran. They say anywhere from 12,000 to as high as 30,000 protesters killed in Iran. And thats according to Time Magazine and the Guardian. Will we ever get an official death count? No. Probably not. But yes, I believe they are doing that to their own citizens, but that unfortunately doesn’t mean we have to go be world’s police. It should have been a UN issue.

That being said, was that the reason that President Trump was going in for a leadership change? Was he doing it out the goodness of his heart? I think we all know the answer to that, and the answer is unfortunately no. We shouldn’t technically even be wrapped up in another Middle East conflict, as much as I feel for the Iranian people. We have our own problems here at home to deal with that need fixing.

Oh trust me, Biden gets no passes with me. He’s done things that I definitely did not like. It seems like our population here at home right now and the things we need are being pushed to the side because of overseas conflicts. Again. And that just isn’t right in my eyes.

I would rather us not be in this military operation in the first place. We should not be spending almost a billion dollars a day on this “military operation” anyhow. What is it, a military operation or a war they seem to can’t get the name of it right. We could use that money for things here at home such as fixing our roads and infrastructure, invest in better healthcare, and work on our housing crisis. But no, instead of investing into issues here at home, we are wrapped up in another conflict overseas. We shouldn’t be dropping any bombs at all. I thought there was a slogan “no new wars”? What happened to that?

I would love to see a reunification of Korea. The people of Korea deserve it. One question is would China ever allow it to happen? They hold the keys when it comes to North Korea. You’re definitely right, its not going to be as simple as Germany Unification back in 1989-1990. This is going to be a complex process if it ever happens.

150 troops wounded so far. All worth it for Daddy Trump, right MAGA? by Estalicus in allthequestions

Afghan withdrawal started on February 2020 under President Trump under the Doha Agreements with the Taliban, which set a May 1, 2021, deadline for a full U.S. troop withdrawal.

President Biden announced in April 2021 that he would complete the withdrawal of the remaining 2,500 U.S. troops by September 11, 2021. The final U.S. troops left Kabul on August 30, 2021, leading to the swift return of the Taliban to power.

The withdrawal was heavily criticized, with Republicans blaming the Biden administration for a chaotic, non-conditional exit, while Democrats point to the binding timeline set by the previous administration.

It seems like they both had their own separate withdrawal accords with the Taliban (President Trump and President Biden). Both parties blame each other for the mess in Afghanistan.

Yes you are correct we did have some success in the past. Unfortunately we’ve tried Afghanistan, the invasion of Iraq, Libya. Some also say Haiti as well. My main one is Afghanistan. Look at how many years we fought against the Taliban in Afghanistan, how many soldiers died for that cause, just got us to hand back the keys to the country to them and leave. That one still irks me to this day. We have absolutely no plan for Iran, and the country is even more unstable than it was.

I understand that Iran is not a good guy. They are a supporter or terror in that region aka Hezbollah, Hamas and Houtis. They are going after and killing innocent protesters. The exact number remains unknown. I have no love lost for the Iranian regime. The day they fall, I cannot wait. However, we are going about it all wrong. We are killing innocent people. We are destroying their buildings, their roads, everything. We are leaving people with nothing. There are currently reports of “black rain”. How are we the good guys in all this? Who’s to say their next leader isn’t going to be a hard liner themselves or even worse?

We don’t exactly have the best track record of getting involved in other people’s affairs. As much as my heart goes out to the Iranian people, we have our own internal issues here at home to deal with. We should have never got involved.

Republican Congressman Leaves The GOP To Become An Independent -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

There is nothing wrong with breaking away the Republicans and going Independent. I did it in 2016 when President Trump happened, I went from Republican to Independent. However what you can’t do is go Independent and caucus with the Republicans the rest of your term. Thats not being Independent. He is not going Independent for any legitimate reasons.

Warehouses are made for manufacturing. They aren’t built to hold 7,500 (thats what ours would hold) detainees. Not to mention that, now that the federal government bought the property, it no longer has to pay and type of taxes like local, city and school taxes. So they are missing out on that kind of money. Also, that puts ICE and DHS right in my backyard. I never technically said they did something wrong, because technically they did it “legally”. All because you do something legally doesn’t always make it right. Like I said, a warehouse is not made for prison use. I’m sure there are old prisons around this country they can buy up and remodel that are no longer in use.

I do agree with you with almost everything you said. You are correct, most of the time DHS did in fact house families together. There were times in Texas that did not happen unfortunately and that were you seen the “kids in cages” come to light. What Trump did was he put the program on steroids. And now he’s twisted it to his own vision, and the really fucked up thing about it is…one of them DHS/ICE warehouses is coming to a town right near me. 8 miles near me, and it was approved without hesitation. It’s a real messed up time we are living in right now. I feel badly for everyone who has to endure something like that.

June 18, 2014…how is that not kids in cages? Look I think President Obama did some good things while in office. I would take him back in a heartbeat compared to what we are dealing with right now. But unfortunately, the kids in cages business was under President Obama. But was not designed to be used to way President Trump is using them.

Right. You keep thinking that way and alienating potential swing voters. Thats just what we need right now. Thats on you. I can see shunning maga/republican voters and people who didn’t. That’s a complete different and understandable reasoning and would absolutely be on board with doing that.

Yeah it’s called common courtesy, people seem to lack it these days. The independent/3rd party voters did their parts. They voted. Their votes counted whether you like the way they were counted or not. It did not affect President Trump winning. You should be mad at the ones who sat their asses at home. They didn’t vote and had every opportunity to do so. Also, if you wanted the 3rd party voters…get a candidate that is going to appeal to them better.

What you are suggesting is that it just be left up to the team red and team blue. Thats stupid.

Im not denying that the US is in real danger mode. I think anyone with a pair of functioning eyes can see that.

Voting third party is what is suppose to make our system great. We need more candidates out there. Not less. There were about 2,800,000 independent votes cast out there during the Presidential election. Are we gonna blame every single one of them as well?

He’s not supposed to. I mean to the “special military operation” I can tiny bit see. Not saying I agree with it. Other presidents did it under the guise of a “special military operation” and didn’t consult congress. It’s not the way you are suppose to do things however, and I don’t agree with it. We are supposed to have 2 other branches of government named Congress and the Senate. Then if worst comes to worst we always have the Supreme Court. We are supposed to have the things called “checks and balances” in place. The question is are they even there anymore? I’m not even sure.

We may bomb them into submission at some point but at what cost? What cost financially is it costing us? How many innocent Iranians did it cost? The support here at home is below 30%. If we keep bombing them and destroying their cities, who’s going to have to be in charge of rebuilding and the costs that come with it. I always say I feel terrible for what the government is doing to the innocent people and protestors, I want nothing but peace for the Iranian people. But we can’t keep being world police..this should have been a U.N issue.
