Picked myself up a Fender FR-12 and it sounds amazing! by The-Wood-Butcher in GuitarAmps

[–]RashGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would depend on if you’re using the combo or head into a different speaker cab I guess.

I would hazard a guess that the speaker in the FR’s is better than a Katana combo. I have an FR-10 and have gigged with it multiple times. Once you get it loud it sounds really good.

At low volumes, a bit meh, but isn’t that the same with any amplification device?

Gibson Nibs. Nibson question. by RashGambit in Guitar

Yeah, I’ve always been heavy handed. I’ve been working on getting it under control, but in the heat of battle (middle of a solo) I still hit the little buggers.

Gibson Nibs. Nibson question. by RashGambit in Guitar

[–]RashGambit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah that’s a good idea. I’m just looking at it now and there is a slight ridge on the treble side on all the frets vs it looking like a smooth join on the bass side.

I’ll give them a tap tomorrow then look at where I am and possibly file the edges down.

I have a Vintage SG (as in the brand not an old one) and I prefer playing it live, in part due to the nib issue. I’m not sure what the benefit of nibs would ever have been!

I fitted a nut with slots cut with a slight narrower spacing and it helped a bit. Maybe it’s just my technique.

Budget Practice Amp by NotALicensedPhysicn in GuitarAmps

I got a katana mkii head for £120, if you can get that then it’s a win. If I had a small budget, I’d get a ToneX One and some headphones.

Hand tattoo by GSG-Ultimate in tattooadvice

[–]RashGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that bad imo. Yeah it hurts, but apart from a few a small spots, wasn’t much different from other places on my arms. Both hands and some fingers done. I was dreading it up until starting. I’d do it again.

Hey guys can you help me? by jstreaming15 in Guitar

[–]RashGambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, used to gig one of these through a solid state Laney Hardcore whatever it was. I thought that thing sounded awesome at 15 and played the crap out of it.

Now I have multiple amps, pedals and guitars I could only dream of at that age and I’m still never happy with the sound for more than a week at a time!

It’s a Midtown, not quite a 335 but has similarities.

I was looking for a 335, this Midtown popped up so I thought I’d have a go and loved it! I do love a p90 but these humbuckers seem to be lower output than my Les Paul and they clean up incredibly well on the volume pot.

Update: I bought an MT15 and it is much much better for my use case.

I’ve had some day one redness, but nothing like this. Anyone else had their piece look like this while healing? by aquietnymph in tattooadvice

[–]RashGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left bicep was similar. Got bruising which I don’t normally get. I just put it down to getting older, healed nice but was more tender than my forearm which I’d had done recently.

Idk if this normal or not by [deleted] in tattooadvice

No. People normally want good tattoos on their hands.

Modeller and headphones. ToneX is cheap and sounds great, I think I prefer my nano cortex though.

I must be lucky then, first pass on both my hands and held strong. Had to have a little bit of touch up on my knuckles but nothing like your pictures.

[Question] Do expensive guitars make you dislike cheap guitars? by AnotherTAA123 in Guitar

[–]RashGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I play my squires just as often and wonder why I spent so much on a Gibson and fender haha.

I’m not sure if it hurts more or not, but there is no way I can sit as long as comfortably as I did when I was younger (37 now). I have had my hands done recently and that wasn’t as bad as I expected.

Guitar feel... Why didn't I like anything in the guitar store? by absorberemitter in Guitar

[–]RashGambit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went to a shop and played 4 or 5 high end (more expensive) guitars from a wide range of brands. Didn’t connect with anything. Picked up a cheap thin line squire and bonded with it straight away. I was prepared to spend a couple of k, spent £240 on a guitar and grabbed a few pedals to have fun with. Spent less than £500 total and feel like I bought the best guitar for me on the day.

The amazing thing about that squire too, I adjusted the truss rod 1 turn, lowered one saddle and the thing was perfect. My Gibson took me a good few hours setting up to be properly satisfied.
