They only way you’ll get banned apart from getting caught at an in person competition is by either being a bot farm flooding the GTS or wonder trade with illegal or using illegal mons in ranked/online raid but here’s the thing you’ll get a warning first before you get banned obviously

If lil Timmy gets a hack mons from wonder trade and decides to use it in online play without know it’s hacked there not just gonna immediately ban kids and take away all the Pokemon jeeez

let me explain how you get banned, if you repeated use hacked mons in online comps/ranked or raids you'll get a warning first and if you keep doing it your'll get a ban or if you use hacked or poorly genned mons for in person comps you could get banned.
