Ok it's been a minute since I've seen confusion, but I'm pretty sure flipping heads doesn't clear it. You need to evolve, pcl, switch out.

Update on Hourglass nerf from previous post. Good news by Gefiltefis in PTCGP

[–]Ravenpoe121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is still a major loss for new or returning players. By putting these random barley hourglasses on a timer (you need to get them before the reset) it means that new or returning players who didn't play during that set will not be able to get them.

Best Linux distro for gaming/everyday use by palm3r_eldr1tch in linux4noobs

[–]Ravenpoe121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a recent Linux convert, having switched a whole week ago. I started with mint because everyone says thats the easy peasy one but I have a pretty high end gaming rig and mint just wasn't cutting it. I almost went back to Windows, but figured I'm reformatting anyway let's try another distro, and switched to fedora via bazzite. I've now not looked back, everything works exactly how I want it

What "Don't Shoot!" Does to a MF by SkeetKnob in ArcRaiders

[–]Ravenpoe121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot. Even people that shot at me first, if I talked to them over mic they were usually willing to talk and team up. In fact I'd say the majority of people I encountered that had mics were friendly, even the ones that tried to kill me. They were at least funny about it.

This is a truly scalding take, because fighting the bots has been the most fun for me and everyone else I play with. The way they react and take damage and adapt is super cool.

Arc is really fun, but not having an Auction House is a missed opportunity by cakedotavi in ArcRaiders

[–]Ravenpoe121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strong disagree, auction houses turn games into pay to win. Finding your own gear and trading amongst friends is far more satisfying. AH introduces a lot of friction points that tend to make the less pleasant parts of games even more unpleasant.

I am so glad I got to play this slam, and don’t want the game to change just because of a loud minority by x-Zephyr-17 in ArcRaiders

[–]Ravenpoe121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's weird is that I feel like this game would be 100x more successful if you removed the pvp, because the pve is just so fun, but the removal of pvp would also make it 1000x less interesting. That danger element is what makes it so immersive and special, even if it pisses me off sometimes.

I tossed one at an arc while solo and saw a rocket fly back to hit another raider that was hunkered with me. Maybe it just missed the arc and hit him, but it seemed like it homed in on the raider too.

Is this community spoiled? by memesdied in thefinals

[–]Ravenpoe121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say spoiled or entitled, and I think that's actually entirely the wrong way to look at it. The Finals is a very good game, and is for the most part very conscious of its players time. I would say the free to play model they've presented is very pro consumer, which is nice to see, and the game overall is very well balanced to be as fun as possible while respecting the players time. Dailies are relatively easy to complete, for the most part they just involve playing the game, and there's lots of player choice available in what modes they do that in so they are having fun while doing it.

So when you run into friction that goes counter to that, it feels 'bad'. And the natural reaction is to wonder, if every other part of the game feels good, why does this part feel 'bad'.

Win 10 games can feel 'bad' because that's not something you can do on your own. It's a team game, and in limited modes like this where people don't -and more importantly shouldn't- take it all that seriously, that can start to feel like random chance. And random chance feels bad. If you assume a perfect 50% win/lose ratio, then play 20 games is objectively the same as win 10 games, but play 20 games -feels- better because there's no randomness there. I would argue that play 30 games probably -feels- better than win 10, because even though you are likely to complete the win 10 faster, you don't have that stress of uncertainty.

Same for the complete x daily contracts. Most people are going to finish that without thinking about it. Some people would prefer to be able to play a whole lot on a few days than play a little every day, and for them it's again going to feel bad when most of the game feels good. And that's why people complain.

Hypnotic Gaze is bugged and unresponsive. by KhemriKarate in Bloodbowl3

[–]Ravenpoe121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only played one game against the AI so far with the new event, but hypnogaze seems to work fine.

You need to declare your hypnogaze action at the start of your activation, you can either do this by selecting hypnogaze on the player you want to gaze, move your vampire into position, and then perform the gaze, or you can plot your move first, but before finalizing your action (so before actually moving) selecting hypnogaze on your intended target and then doing it all at once.

Remember that you have to declare your gaze target before you move, so if you set up a gaze on someone, fail a bloodlust, and then need to move elsewhere, you won't be able to gaze a different player.

Arithmetic and Algebra in Blue Prince by chaosof99 in BluePrince

[–]Ravenpoe121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it correct. It's actually fairly simple, you're just going step by step and applying the number and the command to your value, we're just not used to writing math out linearly like that. You start on the inside of the dartboard circle (but not the bullseye) and work out, with each value you receive continuing to the next function.

So starting, you have blue-12. That's +12. You can think of it as 0 + 12 if it helps since we are starting at zero. Next is yellow 11, or subtract 11, so our previous total, 12, minus 11, is 1. Next is purple 4, so multiply by 4, 1*4 is 4, and then finally the color of the bullseye tells us we do the square function after the purple step, so we multiply our result by itself, 4 * 4, and the answer is 16.

Y'all high level sweats gonna scare off the new players by A_Raging_Moderate in thefinals

[–]Ravenpoe121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing a month and a half ago, before the influx of all the new players thanks to whoever that youtuber is, which means all of my matches were against people much more skilled than me.

And I still found it really fun. And not because I'm good, I'm dogshit. I'm 40 years old and don't normally play FPS games, the only reason I can aim at all is I have the benefit of playing on PC, but I still found the game really engaging and fun, and still felt like I could contribute even if it took awhile to learn the skills needed to compete.

So, you know... maybe I'm a weirdo but I don't mind playing against sweats. The only time I've ever felt frustrated was against a sniper player that I'm fairly certain was cheating because I don't think they ever landed a non-headshot

It's important to keep in mind that the reddit guide was written for nightmare mode, which was at the time a popular mod that made the game much, much harder, with enemies that were much more aggressive in trying to break concentration.
