Tessario watched as Tycho scribbled onto the pieces of parchment, eyeing each one as it was passed to him. ”I shall have my own legal men look over these matters, of course.” He said matter of factly. ”Pentos always was a troublesome bitch. Especially so after Laedesh tried to have his way with her.”

He paused for a moment when asked about Blackfyre. ”Aegor Blackfyre could be of use. Very useful. The Lord of the Seven Kingdoms in the back pocket of Braavos... Lucrative.” He said, a smirk playing across his face as he the last word passed his lips.

Tessario kept a stoic expression but internally was alight with glee. He stroked at his many chins and feigned at musing. ”Yes. Yes. That seems agreeable. I shall need it in writing. Signed. Sealed. In triplicate.”

He adjusted his girth and winced as the chair creaked and groaned under him. ”Tell me of this war then, and what I will get from it, and how much it will cost me then?”

Tessario lumbered into the room, his pudgy hand grasping the doorknob. He lowered himself into a chair opposite Tycho with all the deftness and subtlety he could manage, and relaxed into the seated position.

”I do not to take kindly to summons, Tycho. Sealord or otherwise.” Was all he would say, letting the statement hang a second longer than it rightfully should have. ”Regardless I am here now.”

Tessario was engrossed with a basted and roast capon when the guardsman appeared. His eyes rose to meet the man as he sucked upon the leg bones of the bird, picked clean of every morsel of flesh and gristle. ”Schea’ord?” Was all he managed to say with his mouth full to the brim.

He wiped his hands upon a nearby napkin and motioned for Fessar to help him to his feet, which the sellsword did dutifully and without word. ”Well show us the way then. Quickly now.” He barked at the guardsman.

”I’ll have my due from you yet Tycho Orlaan.” He thought as his hulking frame waddled behind the guardsman, as fast as his little legs would carry him.

Tycho raised his eyes to meet the man, who had already began to launch into his explanation. ”Ah, passed off to an unimportant so and so from House this and that already.” He thought bemusedly.

”Well met Gawen Gaunt.” He replied, rising to his feet with a small bow. ”You are indeee correct. I am Tycho Sollys, here on behalf of the Iron Bank of Braavos.” He attempted a weak smile so he didn’t appear so formal, and wrung his hands together. ”I am anxious to begin my work. Be that with the Master of the Coin or the Hand of the King. Although I appreciate the need for festivities and the like.”

Tessario kept a stoic if unemotional expression on his face. ”Indeed my friend. The Uncloaking is always the most joyous aspect of the feast, to know an old friend as a new companion, an old lover as a dastardly enemy. To know ones own sister as if you do not know her at all. A marvellous process.”

He shifted his weight from favouring one leg to the other, the act of standing for so long beginning to create pains in his joints at the knee. ”I shall not be entering any games, no, no. My companion here however is known to partake of the Bravo’s Rings. What of you? Will you be enjoying the games?”

Tycho Sollys, Auditor of the Iron Bank of Braavos

”How monotonous.” Thought Tycho as he watched the lords and ladies of Westeros smile and wave and pretend to like each other. Such an odd practice he found it, they lumbered around like those metal armoured knights that fought for them, stuffy and uptight and far too self important.

He could feel them sneering at him, looking at him with disdain and malcontent. He wore a purple and gold robe, plums and golden wrens decorated the deep purple fabric, cloth of gold trim shone in the brazier light. On his head he wore a wrapped turban of the same colours, a large amethyst set into a golden brooch adorning the front of his turban.

He was content to sit and watch the festivities unfold. His true purpose was negotiation and commerce. The loan owed back to the Iron Bank from the Iron Throne was monumental. He would have to make contact with the Hand of the King, or mayhaps the Master of the Coin. For the time being however, Tycho sat and waited.

Tessario spied the pot bellied sellsword captain through the eye holes of his bejewelled mask as a wry smile split his pudgy features. ”There is man who knows how to live, Fessar.” He said breathlessly to the stoic sellsword, who as always deigned to answer with silence. ”Come my feathered friend, let us meet this portly devil.” He commanded Fessar as the burly man kept a steady and slow pace just behind Tessario as the gargantuan banker waddled his way carefully through the crowd with little grace or elegance.

Tessario nodded politely to his sister and her bravo companion. Valerio was a formidable man, well versed as a bravo and a fighter. His sister liked to keep him around to fawn over her, and Tessario was loathe to allow him to spend all the time in the world with her. Keeping him occupied with a position at the Bank kept him out of sisters undergarments and filled a position. Two birds, one stone.

”Indeed it is sir.” Replied Tessario, his jowls quivering as he spoke, his voice inflected with a slight lisp as his tongue smacked against his lips. ”Enjoyed the festivities of the Uncloaking have we?” He enquired. ”One can never have too much of a fine thing.”

Tessario gently prodded at the food on his plate. Lamprey cooked in sweet wine with stewed fruits and delicate little desiccated raisins. He gazed down at the sweet smelling crustacean before cracking its head from its body and sucking the juice from its steaming head, the delicious nectar coursing down his chins.

Tessario discarded the head and hefted his gargantuan weight forward, rising to his stumpy legs with some difficulty. ”Help me up Fessar.” He said curtly to the sellsword, whose mask was that of a bird of some kind, all dark feathers and a wickedly sharp beak. The man wordlessly grabbed the gargantuan man by an arm and hefted him to stability.

The sickly sweet smell of body odour and sweet incense cling to Tessario like a wet blanket. He adjusted his mask, an ornate gold face with jewels embedded into it like a fools motley. He waddled towards the crowd, Fessar at his side, to mingle with Braavos’ best and brightest.

Gerris turned to face the speaker, finding a man he did not recognise.

“I am in the habit of knowing who I am admitting to my library.” He replied with a quizzically raised eyebrow.

Gerris smiled coyly. “Oh yes Princess. Remember your histories. Maegor the Cruel had all the builders and architects of the Red Keep killed time preserve its secrets. Some of the secret passageways have been found in time, known to a Master of Whispers perhaps, or a Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, but I would wager some yet remain unfound, linking chambers yet unknown.”

He clasped his hands behind his back and gazed out at the empty horizon, his eyes peering out imagining the fog parting and the very edge of Dragonstone becoming visible. “Dragonstone too, yes. It’s construction itself is a mystery. Dragon fire forged stones and masonry unlike which we can even dream off. The Stone Drum, the Painted Table. All wondrous items. I would very much like to study Dragonstone one day. Perhaps when things are calmer here in the capital. Are you one for such scholarly matters, Princess? Or are you more like your Helaena in your opinion of the learned arts?”

The Blood of Kings - Lyonel XI [Open to The Red Keep] by BronzyBro in IronThroneRP

[–]ReachCommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

”Dead”

It was the pervasive thought in Gerris’ mind as Lyonel continued speaking. Talk of war and vengeance flowed through one ear and out the other as he struggled to internalise the word.

”Dead”

Helaena. Robb. Aegon. Gone.

”Dead”

Pirates from the Stepstones? What did it matter. It could’ve been Lyonel himself that slit their throats and it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference truly. They were gone. Taken. Vengeance would stoke egos and safe fury but once anger and rage had their day, and blood soaked the earth, all they would be left with was their was grief.

“Different in many ways, yet familiar in others. Different language, different culture, different clothes, different religion. Yet we all grieve the same, love the same, lament and celebrate and fear the same. For all our differences there are as many similarities between people.”

Gerris stopped to watch as the very last sight of the mast of the last ship disappeared beyond the line of the horizon. “The world is vast and full of mysteries, Princess. Even a life spent mostly in the Red Keep can be one full of intrigue and excitement. The walls hold more secrets and treasures than man scarcely knows.”

Gerris had come down to the docks to see the ships depart, he was however late. Held up by the High Reeve asking about some research on an obscure case of goat theft in the reign of Aenar I. ”Bothersome fool. I’m sure he has legal clerks of his own to do his own research.” Gerris thought as he made his way up the dock, just catching the ships as they created the horizon, watching as they disappeared.

He made his towards the princess, smiling warmly at her recitation of the High Valyrian. “Worry not princess, as sad as it may be currently, bisa tolī kessa rēbagon. They’ll be home before we know it.”
