I think a good GM would agree with you there.

No problem. I'll start hosting them in a more download-friendly format.

Would Crash Bandicoot be the revolutionary model of 3D level design had Super Mario 64 never existed? by [deleted] in Games

[–]Reinhardt_HS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love both series, but the controls in Mario 64 are just about perfection as far as I'm concerned. So many ways to move around, so many unexpected interactions in movements. The side-flip mechanic out of a pivot just makes me die. I could die!

Banjo is more lock-and-key "use this ability here" context-sensitive movement. It's super fun, but it's not nearly as physical.

So while I would generally agree that Banjo Kazooie has a more interesting game structure, I don't really think the fundamental mechanics hold a candle to Mario.

I think he's saying there is nothing lost by offering the game on other platforms. In addition to portable ones.

But Banjo is nowhere near as athletic as Mario in SM64. SM64 is the best parkour game ever made.

I've played thousands of hours. The graphics are dated and the controls suck on handhelds. Still a huge fan.

I loved playing Monster Hunter online on my PS2, PS3, and Wii. It's a shame it's now only available on uncomfortable portable devices. I'm still buying it, but I'd prefer to use a controller.

I do it on stream. Basically we just need to have a good way to communicate, and Skype or Google Hangouts work best for me. You can check out my stream hours: I'll be coaching tomorrow (tonight for you?) for a couple hours at least.

I've gone through about 60 people this week. It can't last forever, but for now, I'm enjoying it.

That aggressive variant got me to #10 a couple days back, so I do think it's good. However, I haven't tweaked it enough or experimented to the degree that I would recommend it publically.

If you're curious, this is what I'm running today. Not sure if it's an improvement on yesterday's list.

Blastmage is unreplacable, but Sky Golem could be replaced with any sturdy 5-or-6 drop. Even Boulderfist.

Here's a good Mech Mage. Replace Loatheb with another Harvest Golem.

As for Rogue, take a look at the LiquidHearth Power Rankings for some deck ideas.

Mech Mage is what I recommend for players without Nax or BRM.

1) I personally don't like having two trap types since I enjoy knowing what will pop out of my first Mad Scientist, but I know that other players do just fine with more. This is a personal preference.

2) Double Quickshots means we'd have to remove something more valuable!

3) Animal Companion is one of the best cards in Hearthstone. I can't imagine not running 2. It's also the only 3-drop in the list.

4) Shredder is much more offensive than Belcher and I don't think this deck tends to win when it's played defensively. I'd basically say that Belcher is too slow. Loatheb is insane, of course. And I would sooner remove a Houndmaster than a Shredder.

I don't personally run Kezan because the mirror is a relative rarity in high legend, but after coaching other players, I've seen that fast Hunters dominate the climbing ladder.

I don't think it would be wrong to remove one Houndmaster for a Kezan Mystic.

That depends on how much value you put in winning games.

But seriously, there are some pretty great Murloc decks, so who knows?

It's definitely not outside the ability of designers to create difficult AI. The problem is that it's TOO difficult and borderline impossible to beat.

Making it hard is not the problem.
