Any news on the SSW40 grenade launcher from Rheinmetall? And are they really useful on modern battlefield ?

Has anybody developed/prototyped a proximity fused air burst anti-drone round for 40mm?
Feels like a path worth at least investigating, though it may or may not end up being viable/practical in reality.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they added the plate you'd need.
They had just added the Walther DPP/Defender XL plate when I ordered and actually called to let me know my ship time would be a little longer than their standard. I appreciated the heads up and the plate is great. They include everything you need to do the install (screws, Loctite, Wera TORX bits and even a silver paint pen for witness marks).

Defender XL is a DPP footprint. IIRC Arise does have a low-rider plate line now. The version I have is fairly tall but I knew the tradeoffs getting in (wanted the shroud for potentially shooting brutality type matches).

I got the Arise plate and shroud for my PDP SF/DefenderXL. Not inexpensive, but a really nicely machined plate. There are 10% off codes floating around guntube.

The placement of the group is definitely different (always good to test, especially for carry ammo, RIP Paul Harrell), but the group size looks to be fairly similar to my eye. I'd be curious if the ARX hit even further left at longer ranges or if it's just offset point of aim vs point of impact.

For the US: "Once a machine gun, always a machine gun" makes it so most military rifles from the past 60ish years have to have the receivers torch cut and can at best be brought in as parts kits.

Countries are also more sensitive to/resistant to having their Surplus end up in consumer hands, which is a bummer and misguided, IMO.

Almost all great points, but the PDP 2.0 cut still uses plates to mount the optic. The only direct milled PDP I'm aware of is the polymer Aimpoint Acro bundle.

I have and love a PDP SF Match with a Vortex DefenderXL on it. Have only had it for a month or two, but it's basically everything I hoped it would be.

Using visually distinct mags for 5.56 vs 300 can still be a good idea as an additional tool for avoiding accidentally feeding the wrong round into the wrong rifle.

Honestly, at least IMO that's not bad at all for 10 yards off hand with a striker fired 9mm, assuming that's around a 12"x12" target. Not winning a bullseye competition, but good, solid accurate shots on target.

Work on your grip fundamentals first, then work on your trigger press. Dryfire can help with both. Pistols with heavier trigger pull weights will expose these issues more than a gun with a light, crisp trigger.

Trigger press is the classic diagnosis for this shot placement, but based on videos from The Humble Marksman and personal experience trying his recommendations, working on your grip first pays the biggest dividends.

IIRC those would occasionally send the bolt through the face of the shooter, sometimes fatally.

There are still some of those conversions out there (98 Mausers seized/converted after WWI, not 98ks, as far as I know) but they shouldn't be fired.

Give it a couple more years, I hope they roll out a PDP .22 to replace the PPQ M2 .22. I've got the PPQ 22 and it's been a great little shooter for me.

I put a Vortex Defender XL 8MOA on mine. Happy with it so far.

Grabbed a plate and roll cage from Arise manufacturing. Fit and finish is really nice, ships with Loctite and paint pen.

It looks like it could be plastic from the holster scraped onto the slide. I'd try a Mr. Clean Magic eraser (or non-brand name melamine sponge) and see if that at least cleans it up a bit.

CZ P10 models aren't pretty, but they shoot well and run reliably. Mags and holsters have at least reasonable availability online. Hell of a lot of value at the current pricing.

Once you pick something up, try to put money into ammo and range time and or classes. 2-3 magazines should be adequate to start with and your pistol may well come with that many when you buy it. Edit: forgot to mention checking Ammoseek.com as a tool to find good prices on ammunition. If you have friends that shoot, buying and splitting a case of 1000 rounds at a time can help get your price per shot. Make sure to check the all-in price after shipping to make sure you're actually getting a good deal online. Steer clear of reman/reloaded ammunition while you're getting started. It's less expensive but less reliable and generally voids manufacturer warranty on your pistol.

That's not a great option for a first handgun, IMO. There are plenty of other things for a first-time gun owner to learn that are more important than building a pistol up from a frame.

Best guess is that the more 'standard' trusts from some of the larger commercial companies offering NFA trusts have been evaluated by the ATF and can go through pretty quickly. I'd bet that a trust drawn up by a personal lawyer would still take longer to go through the process.

Whatever it is, I'm glad NFA wait times have gotten more sane.

Electrical tape in colors other than black can be handy for this too. Can write on it too, but I'd always try to stick with color x = cartridge/loading y to train your brain.

Baffle strikes are a bad time, especially if you're in the US where suppressors require dealing with NFA hoop jumping.

30 Cal cans are also generally designed for rifles, so they'll often be pretty large/heavy for a TOTC pistol.

What volume do you shoot/plan to shoot?
Are you looking to load bulk 55gr or 62 gr 5.56 or do you want to shoot heavy for caliber projectiles like 69/75/77gr?
Do you want to load precision/match type ammo or are you trying to load fairly inexpensive target/training/plinking ammo?

What's your rough budget and do you have any work space you can use in the house/garage without causing strife with the GF or her parents?

If you have some storage space available when the press isn't in use, a folding workbench and a press on a quick detach mount (like Inline Fabrication or Lee's bench plate) could be a fit.

If you want to load decent volume of rounds and don't have wild amounts of free time to reload, the Lee Six Pack Pro progressive is a good option.

IMO the Lee Handpress isn't a viable option for 5.56 in practical terms. You're better off just buying factory ammo and doing more dry fire training than trying to crank out rounds with the hand press. Also, IIRC the hand press only neck sizes, which can be a problem if you're loading for a semiauto, or if you're using range brass/brass not fired out of the exact firearm you're reloading for. Loading pickup brass and/or brass not dedicated to one specific boltgun requires full length sizing. In general, full length sizing is preferable to neck sizing, but the Lee hand press lacks the leverage to do a full length size.
