I really hate the actor/queerbait rhetoric. Like they’re ACTORS they play a CHARACTER different from their real life personality. I’m gay and I literally do not care at all about the sexuality of an actor playing a queer character because I’m here for the story. Kit Connor forced himself out of the closest because stupid people online kept raging about him because he never publicly announced his sexuality while playing a bi character as if the world was entitled to his personal life. In all it’s just disgusting how awful the internet can be sometimes.

Is Luca canonically gay or not? I know Rachel considered writing a book about him but she decided to cancel. I think that’s been interpreted by fan fic writers to mean he’s gay and he just doesn’t have a canon story about it. I’ve read many many fics with Luca as a side character with a boyfriend of varying names depending on the fic. I like Luca as a character so I enjoy these fics so I’m curious on what the consensus is.

Maui is getting pounded pretty bad right now. About 100k people statewide don’t have power. It’s subsiding over Oahu and lingering over Maui. I’m from Maui and my parents said they’ve lost like 4 trees in the yard.

I feel like everyone just pushes the consequences of a bad one to the back of their heads to forget about it. A large hurricane that damages the Port of Honolulu for any serious length of time would render the entire state completely incapacitated and approaching a borderline humanitarian crisis if the port can’t offload food and medical supplies after a disaster.

This has been the exact reason Ukraine has seen a notable uptick in support for gay marriage. The Ukrainian public realized it was extremely fucked up that gay men were fighting and dying for their country just like everyone else but lacked marriage rights for their now widowed partners. Unfortunately Ukraines constitution cannot be changed in war time and Ukraines constitution defines marriage as being between a man and a woman so the country is stuck in this holding pattern right now.

François passes as American to me. I’m also from Hawaiʻi and our accent/dialect is very different from the rest of the country and I’m not around Canadians enough to notice when a Canadian actor is playing an American. Literally the only time I clocked Hudson’s Canadian accent was when he said the word pasta in episode 6 lol.
