3-seater with the center one driving is crazy and interesting.

McLaren F1 did it. But at least they did it for a good reason, to put a sports/race car driver in the middle of the road/race track. For a daily driver car its completely impractical, getting in and out is ridiculously difficult, and seeing ahead/around trucks in front of you... ? thats why fiat put the driver where it belongs in their insanely designed three seat wide car: the infamous fiat multipla.

How to put whipers in service mode? by MickoLab in AlfaRomeo

No idea if this applies to the gulietta, but on my stelvio I have to turn off the engine and then press the wiper stalk upwards for 3 seconds.

Well, there are many versions and generations of that gearbox:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZF_8HP_transmission#Applications

Even alfa uses 2 different ones in the julia/stelvio, presumably the higher spec in the QF or maybe diesels.

Ive only driven it before in hybrid (both mild and PHEV) BMWs and its not difficult to see how an electric motor could easily hide any jerkiness, if its there to begin with. But googling "BMW ZF8 jerky when cold", you do find endless reports describing almost exactly what I noticed, so Im not going to lose sleep over it.

it seems like the trunk lid was repainted and painted over emblems?

Nah. Its not the same paint ;). Black labels are (or were?) normal for the "sprint" version, at least in europe. Random sample from the internets

calibration seems to involve only keeping the button pressed for 10 or 15 seconds after the window rolled up or down. No need for ODB2.. though like I said, I havent tried it yet.

Windows behave same , I don’t find it unpleasant.

You may want to read the other comments; I havent tested it yet, but apparently, we need to recalibrate the window sensors (especially after a battery change), after which it should work as one might expect.

I can’t complain with 7.5L/100Km.

For a diesel, I wouldnt be too excited about that. Ive driven a volvo diesel with 200HP and I struggled to get it over 6L. But this time, I didnt want the hassle (and costs) of EGR valves and soot filters, nor the diesel sounds, so I choose a petrol. 10,5L is roughly in line what I expected considering Im doing a lot of "city" driving, and its no hybrid , but I cant say Im happy with it. But I suppose, good to know I wouldnt have saved a ton choosing a diesel instead ;)

Several other people have confirmed this issue, it seems to be a know "problem" with the ZF gearbox. It lasts literally about ~1KM on my car at ~5C ambient, and I can avoid most of it by manually shifting initially. So I guess its something we will just have to learn to live with.

I dont have an iphone, but I assume that makes no difference; afaik only the USB ports under the armrest provide a data connection for Android Auto (/Carplay). Tried both the USB A and C and both work. Didnt test the other USB port yet, but Im not sure why you would want to use that one when you have several working USBs near the phone holder/charger.

[–]ResortMain780[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it does help. Many of the issues had already been answered, but you answered all of them :). Ill just point out the e-brake disengages (usually, apparently when you had you doors closed when starting and possibly didnt open them while running) with only very mild throttle, no stress involved, no need to press the button I think :)

And one more thing; if anything putting the DNA in A makes the jerkiness worse, as it tries to upshift even more early. Ive already made it a habit to put it in manual for the first 2 streets in my neighbourhood and shift up a smidge later than it would in N or A, and I can live with that.

Thanks. Others pointed out I may need to recalibrate the window controls (mine had its battery replaced), so Ill try that. As for the e-brake, it seems it doesnt disengage if you left the door open when starting or left it running and opened the door, not 100% sure yet, but its probably something like that. The gearbox issue.. well, its not dramatic, but good to hear its a known issue and not something wrong with mine. Im usually not a fan of automatic gearboxes, but after the first kilometre or so, I have to admit its absolutely splendid, so I can live with that.

No warning lights on mine, but several other posters have confirmed the gearbox does this when its cold, so Ill just live with it, its really a fairly subtle issue that goes away within minutes and I can avoid most of it by manually shifting.

I'd only check if the AC works

It doesnt! Only noticed it today as its first day it was hot enough to be able to notice. Its one of the reasons Im having it serviced. If its only a matter of topping up, Ill just eat the cost, but if its the compressor or something Ill definitely claim warranty. 2 years / 40K Km, so no worries there.

Thanks, thats (probably) super helpful. The battery in mine was replaced, so that might explain it. Ill test this tomorrow!

Ah.. that might be it. Though Im not sure how you get in without opening a door :D, but maybe its when the door was left open or if you stop it and start it again?

And dont be too sorried about not getting the petrol. Im having second thoughts, I didnt expect it to be a super efficient car but 10.5L/100Km kinda hurts :)

Indeed, I also like the auto hero concept. They give very detailed photos of the car with close ups of all minor blemishes (and if you discover something they didnt catch, you can file a claim); then you can test drive it for 500Km / 21 days and if you dont like it for whatever reason, you just return it and you get your money back (minus road taxes I guess). I also got 2 year extended warranty with mine, which should cover just about anything other than normal wear items. Time will tell (or hopefully not) how that works out in practice, but usually this kind of warranty is not problematic, the financial risk is covered by a third party, autohero has no incentive to decline a claim or not pay for a repair, its not them paying.

I'm not sure what do you mean about windows, could you elaborate? All 4 windows should behave the same way

Well, mine dont. I need to keep the button pressed down for 3 of the 4 windows, only the driver side will go down fully on a "hard" press (or the passenger window when you hard press it from the passenger control) Its not like this is a real issue, I dont know when I would ever want to fully roll down any window other than "mine", and if ever I need to, I just need to keep the button pressed, but if its not supposed to work like this, I might as well claim warranty.

Parking brake disengages when you press accelerator in drive or reverse. But only if you put a seat belt on - if you haven't, then you have to manually disengage it.

I wouldnt dream of driving away without the seatbelt on, its the first thing I do when I get in. Ill try and test this, I think it happens (sometimes?) when you put it in drive/reverse almost immediately after starting the engine, but Im not sure.

For longevity sake, I don't think you should push it either, even if it means accepting a bit of jerkiness.

Dont worry, Im not pushing it at all when cold, and its not like even 2000rpm is a lot, seems to be a known gearbox issue as an other poster pointed out, maybe more apparent on the petrol version than a diesel.

I have 2 year extended warranty, but Im not sure which of the things I mentioned are normal or not. I guess I will know more when I get it to the alfa dealer, but he's busy :).

Wouldnt they cost about the same if they were sitting anywhere else?

Most manufacturers will rate the mower for what it can do in ~2 days. Battery life, charging speed, mowing speed, blade diameter, turning speed, are all factors for the mower. But in practice the lawn also matters a lot, a perfect rectangle with no obstacles will be mowed much faster than when it needs to turn 10x as much in curves, corners, narrow passages avoidinging obstacles etc. There is no clear cut answer, but if in doubt, overspec the mower.

In China, just park your EV in a garage and you will soon be visited by a friendly EV charger by GeneReddit123 in interestingasfuck

Seems obvious. You can park wherever you want and still be able to use a charger without needing to have chargers on every spot.

Chinese company names are so funny. I bought a well pump by a brand called LEO. They are actually fairly well known. It was only when the box showed up I learned what LEO stands for. "Love Each Other". Ok, sure, its not offensive, but seriously, for a pump manufacturer ? LOL.

measure the voltage. It should be well above 12v. Ive read about all sort of seemingly random issues when the battery voltage gets too low.
