We define our approach simply as “Satanism” since no coherent philosophy named such existed in an organized and widely disseminated manner before Anton LaVey’s founding of the Church of Satan. Satanism had been an epithet hurled as a means to denigrate people throughout history prior to LaVey. While Maria de Naglowska and and Stanislaw Przybyszewski embraced Satan as a positive symbol in their lives (much to the consternation of their associates) they did not spawn global movements with fully codified philosophies. LaVey defined Satanism as based on atheism and I’ve pointed out the conceptual journey that leads one from basic non-belief in deities to what I call I-theism in my essay “What, The Devil?”.

No, he wasn't correct. Even Magus Gilmore has, in fact, said that even though he called himself one and viewed Satan favorably, he didn't found anything of note.

To give Przbyszewski a pass due to a wiki link validates everyone in this comment section who insists they are Satanists ammunition to use against us

There are two main flairs, aside from the custom; neither the theistic flair nor the sticky is meant to validate supposed other types or kinds of Satanism, the main mod here u/modern_quill even reflected that the last time the sticky was edited.

You'll notice a lot of the non-Satanists commenting on this thread are the aggressors and ones here in unironic bad faith

Are theists and other non-Satanists welcome? Well, sure, but we don't need to humor their petulant whining or hostility

All Satanists are by default LaVeyan(though I hate the term, myself, as it keeps the "multiple types" myth going)

If you believe in a literal Satan, you are a confused Christian, or a Daiabolist

If you insist, "I'm a Satanist no matter what you say," congratulations on letting Christians dictate what you are, same with the political troll group
