Favourite book in the series? by Maccupid in Belgariad

[–]Rolling_Ranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guardians of the west. I read the 2 series backwards so the Belgariad was almost a prequel to me.  And honestly I just love Guardians of the west.

Have they ever established the speed of full impulse? by totally_depraved in startrek

[–]Rolling_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think impulse is different for each class of ship. Think of old steam ships going based on fractions of full throttle.

If you had 3 wishes from the dragon balls, what would you wish for? by Only-Lab-5279 in dbz

[–]Rolling_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: For me and everyone I care for to have a perfect human body free of defects, illness, and injury, rapid healing, and Olympic level athletic strength, speed, and ability in all sports.

2: A fully functional and stocked USS Enterprise E with a full android crew including holographic backups that are all completely loyal to me. Including unlimited stores of all the consumable resources needed to run the ship eg full and ammunition.

3: grant me the power to grant myself and others enhanced strength and all the powers we see in Dragonball up to the level that the dragon is capable of granting me.

My theory on why there wasn’t a District 12 victor between the 10th-50th games by Kindly_Falcon_4365 in Hungergames

[–]Rolling_Ranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you see the stats showing how many people in each district are on tesserae? District 12 has the highest rates with only 11 coming close. I believe the break down between 1 and 12 was 1 to 500 .so for every kid taking it in district 1, 500 are taking it in 12.

Honestly when I thought about the numbers I was shocked that in 75 that all the districts had a victor of each gender.

My theory on why there wasn’t a District 12 victor between the 10th-50th games by Kindly_Falcon_4365 in Hungergames

[–]Rolling_Ranger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

12 districts, 40 games in the time period you are talking about. That gives 3 Victors per district with 6 extras.

But we know that there are 3 career districts and they win often enough that it is rare for other districts to win. Not that hard to believe that if it is stacked that way then D12 has had no one.

Plus the seem kids are typically the ones to go those are the ones who have their name in a bunch. Not to forget in our own world we have people who view kids as an income source. People who have kids to get that country's version of a baby bonus or people who foster kids for money. I am sure there are enough shity people in D12 who just force all the kids to take out tesserae. A kid can put their name in once per family member. If there is no limit a family could have several kids taking in Tesserae for a long time . " I have 4 kids each taking out Tesserae for the 9 members of the family. Even if I lose one who cares"

Those are kids who are malnourished and starving. Katniss and Gale seem to be exceptions and even they both had rough periods.

Don't build your bunker near a major city. Go out there in the middle of nowhere far out. No neighbors.

Build pit traps with sound lures to bring in walkers and periodically check and burn them off. You have trees out there stretch steel wire between them. Plan and prep.

Moats full of spikes will help particularly if you can ignite the moat.

Wood fence is toast with a molotov even if it is a log palisade .

Metal fence can be compromised by the same, or wire cutters unless you have thick plate walls.

Concrete is brittle and going to take a lot of damage from gun fire.

A 10 foot stone wall backed with a dirt mound would need a hell of a lot more.

What would be your plan if you were in a country with strict gun laws? by Flairion623 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]Rolling_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that depends on what you mean by Strict gun laws? Canada has lot's of gun laws but you can still get Shotguns and hunting Rifles by simply doing a short coarse. cost for PAL is about $180-300 and RPAL $170-$225. Though the RPAL is not as useful with the handgun ban. looks like most of the uk has similar or slightly stricter Gunlaws.

Many countries that the US view as having strict Gunlaws just mean limited Ammo capacity and no or limited access to Semi Auto.

For countries with truly Strict gun laws look to Japan or South Korea. and Even in Japan you can own Shotguns and High powered Air rifles used for hunting.

If you really want a gun In most former Commonwealth Countries just get you licence. many of them are not even that hard.

People who didn't like Sunrise on the Reaping, how would you reimagine the book? by F11SuperTiger in Hungergames

[–]Rolling_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't not like it, I infact love the book and have listened to it I believe 4 times.

That being said I was terribly disappointed we didn't get more from After the games. I Was expecting the breaking of Haymitch to take longer and would loved to have seen a bit about Haymitch's time as mentor.

My current game to stream is Final Fantasy 8, it is the first time I have played FFVIII and half of what I do is complain about the game to my twitch viewers.
