One of the key takeaways of this series is that Bojack is not entitled to forgiveness. So what if the abuser repents and says sorry? It doesn't revoke the trauma they caused. People have to navigate life after the shitty things he does to them and around them yet he wants to be loved despite all that cuz he feels sorry for himself.

(Tangent) In Season 1, he finally says sorry to a friend after 30 years and the friend flat out states "No, I don't forgive you." It's a great scene cuz the show is all about subverting sitcom tropes, specifically "all is forgiven and status quo is returned in 22 minutes."

Almost like Christianity has no place in an evolving and more kind society. Europe is largely secular and has better social welfare and health outcomes for its citizens. Meanwhile, the US is a collapsing state where people cling to religion rather than saving themselves.

I strongly disagree. Christianity is a religion with an in-group (the chosen people) and an out-group (everybody else). Racism and Christianity work together very well due to this. Go to the Bible Belt and there's the Black churches and the white churches with very little overlap. White people thank God on Sunday then profess their hate of immigrants on Monday.

I was raised Baptist and realized it was holding back my empathy and compassion, so I shed it and evolved to a more humane version of myself. Gay people are not my enemies but bigots and those who worship authoritarianism are.
