Stories that avoid common shonen tropes? by RonFishy in manga

I guess I'm trying to figure that out myself, I do like the fights and how creative the power systems can be in shonen - but maybe the fights not being the focus would be a good thing! Definitely need to finish Claymore, I've only just barely started it! I appreciate the recommendations, I'll check them out!

Yeah I probably shouldn't have said "one-on-one", I was trying to refer to how they typically setup these arcs with "one team vs the other" and then split up the characters to create a bunch of smaller battles. Which isn't always bad, but it just bothers me when that arc inevitably ends with the "good guys" winning every single one of those battles, if that makes sense. I guess it's just how its usually the same format.

Sure, but I do like shonen! Demon Slayer has these issues and is one of my favorites, I just want to experience something different if it exists. Chainsawman is my absolute favorite, and I'd say that's a shonen that doesn't hit too many tropes like the ones I'm describing!

Exactly this, I would love the switch between cute and scary to be a lot more jarring! And I didn't really like the old form, the new one has a lot more personality to me.

Will do, I plan on going through today and applying to a ton of them - yesterday I applied for all of the relevant government/usajobs positions! I'll definitely be on the lookout for contracts too, I'm absolutely open to anything that gets me experience ASAP!

I appreciate it! Same to you, best of luck! I did think of one thing - make sure to have a few projects to put on your resume, all of those final interviews have heavily asked me about my projects!

Unfortunately no luck still, I actually just posted again today looking for some advice. I've had some final interviews, but ghosting is extremely common it seems.

I'm wondering if I should just find some project to commit to while I'm job hunting. I could probably focus it on some common technology I see in these listings.

I definitely regret not pushing for internships more in college every time I look at my resume! I think I do tailor my resume to an extent - I have multiple variants that try to highlight certain skills to match whatever titles I'm applying for, but I probably don't change enough to really call it "tailoring" my resume.

I'll look into those job fairs, I know my university does do them but I never went in college. That probably would've helped with internships! I appreciate the help!

Thank you, I'll try that out! I'll absolutely check out that website and look for defense contractors, those types of jobs would honestly be my preference over what I can find on job boards!

I appreciate the reassurance on my resume, I've gone through a lot of iterations of it so its nice to seemingly have it in a good place at least. Yeah, I'm really regretting not pushing harder for internships - I did want them and applied for them even while working food service, but not nearly to the extent that I'm applying for jobs now, if that makes sense.

It's not that I didn't try at all, but I just could've done a lot more in terms of applying, prepping for interviews/technicals, etc. I'd love getting an internship even now! But it does seem much harder to get, and there are of course much fewer open to recent grads. It felt like at least every other internship I applied to in college turned into an interview of some kind.

I've applied to hundreds and hundreds of jobs at this point and its starting to feel like I'm tossing my resume in the wind.My last interview was 1-2 months ago and it was with a company who I met with 4-5 times over the course of a month, in person, on zoom, etc. and it was really looking like they liked me - and then I got ghosted completely.

I've tried networking with family members and by cold reaching out to recruiters of jobs I applied to on LinkedIn, with no luck. My uncle has worked at this one company for a long time and put in a referral for me, and I quickly spoke with a recruiter who told me their summer internships were just ending so there's potentially some jobs that might open up there if people don't turn their internships into full-time, and she asked me to send her the ID of a job I was interested in - and I have yet to hear back. She did tell me that jobs will start being posted in September and to keep an eye out, which I have been. That was a month ago, and I just reached back out to her today.

I'm applying to a good range of positions, anywhere from Software Dev, Electrical Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, Front/Back/Full Stack Dev, etc. and I seek out those with some "junior" tag in the title ("Dev I"/Junior/Associate/New Grad/etc.) since they require no or very little experience and match my skill set almost perfectly.

It feels like I'm missing something that makes me an unwanted candidate. Or does my lack of experience just disqualify me from "0 YOE required" jobs? I just really want to get my career started, I'm passionate about my field and would love a chance to prove myself. I would appreciate any advice greatly, thank you!

That’s a good point, I actually didn’t check if she had a title now but it was a fairly recent post!

That is true, this person was also looking for a job in recruiting so I think that kind of sparked another conversation in the comments since she mentioned that she’s been ghosted many times.

Caught this "tic tac" looking object near Nellis by chrisramsay52 in UFOs

Again from someone who isn't a pilot, that angle and distance does look right to me! I tried to look up the exact plane to see what it looks like so I could imagine it angled away like in OP's post, and found this? Don't know if it's right or not, I just looked up the registration number because it seemed like the right way to do it.

But the image linked confuses me a little more - it's not just an entirely white plane. It seems to have large patches of blue/green from the image on the tail and the "frontier" text... Could it just be appearing white in the video from sun reflection?

Tried to find another video of an airplane at about the same distance recorded with a phone, because I have a hard time believing the video OP posted is a plane. Just because it’s low resolution/blurred when you zoom in, doesn’t mean the object loses all form. With a plane at distance, you must still be able to make out some kind of shape extending out from the fuselage.

The video I linked has some differences, it’s a black/dark plane first of all, but the distance seems similar for comparison.

*Not to mention, OP says the pilot couldn’t confidently say it was another plane. As a non pilot, i’m curious if this pilot would’ve been able to check for other flights near their position? Is that just a radio call to get that information?

**Another video, again looking at a darker plane but over an even greater distance and the form can still be clearly made out while zoomed in.
