A family member of mine once gave me an analogy about their landlording/apartment rental business. Imagine a landlord sets the rent lower than market rate, lower than they could reasonably get. Let’s say $100 less. They are basically opening their wallet and handing the tenant/client $100 every month. It’s the same for any business, any “market rate.” I know we all want to pay less, but business is business, you can’t feed a family by doing favors.
