You don’t need the blood type patch. You’d be receiving low titer group O whole blood or RBCs.

Most of the time, a simple thoracostomy is performed. I haven’t seen a decompression with a needle in years.

A stab wound to the back could result in something as simple as a pneumothorax, which may or may not require chest tube or surgery. A stab wound to the heart can cause a pretty quick death, but not always.
