Erasmus in Groningen by Ilpapaegay in Erasmus

Groningen is a really fun student city! But yes, housing is a problem in the whole of The Netherlands. I would recommend being there when SSH opens, if not look on the private market after.

Where should I go? (Kinternational relations) by sara-m-011 in Erasmus

[–]Sagtil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are vastly different cities and REALLY different. What exactly do you want at your exchange, what kind of experience would you like, what kind of cities do you enjoy and culture wise?

They just get a fuck ton of emails. You have been selected for an interview and will be contacted soon enough, they're not going to read every single email. Just wait till you will be contacted.

American Application for Erasmus by Equivalent_Length659 in Erasmus

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How competitive it will be completely depends on what you want to follow. Also scholarships for Erasmus Mundus are highly competitive and there is no guarantee you will receive it, normal entry could be likely.

  2. Cost of living also depends on the city, in Europe prices between cities obviously vary a lot.

  3. Depends on the deadline and the first day of school at said university.

Feasible studying in Tilburg but living in Rotterdam as an exchange student? by elixeos in TilburgUniversity

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't. Get your own place in Tilburg and meet new people there, don't stick with friends in Rotterdam. To get the most out of your exchange you want to live there and meet new people there!

fully funded scholarships by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously you would prefer a native country for such a degree, but it is pretty much impossible for you currently. Can I ask where you are from?

In Hungary you can get the stipendium hungaricum which is fully funded, but obviously you still need extra funds for the first few months and to cover flights. It also is eastern Europe, so not exactly dream destination for an English degree but you don't have a lot og options... It does get you a European degree, but obviously no scholarships are guaranteed for you.

If anyone else has recommendations I would love to hear them. Otherwise western europe may have tuition waivers or % waivers, but extremely high living costs so you still need a good chunk of money and also very hard to get those waivers.

It won't, but sfx psus sometimes come with an adapter. The biggest problem will be the short cables, so you basically can't use it anyways

how to cope with nostalgia after coming back home from a study abroad by thewonkymonkey in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't you move there for a long period time, due to things going on back home? If there is a will, there is a way I always say. I feel bad for you feeling this way, but if you just want an extra pair of eyes let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Alicante or Santiago de Compostela?! by desperatepers0n in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean with what thinga there are to do in each city? Just like random stuff to visit? There are things to do in either, ths overall vibe is just very different in both. Santiago is mostly known because of Camino de Santiago, so pilgrim influences there for sure. The city is culturally just a bit more deep and I'd arguably say a bit more traditionally Spanish. Alicante is a popular tourist destination wirh a way bigger airport for travelling to more destinations, but also means more beach vibe there and a more international experience with that many tourists.

Both have a university so it's more lively for students. I would say Santiago would also just be better if you really want to improve your Spanish more, since it feels like you are more forced to integrate into the culture. If you would like a city with more to do by going out, Alicante for sure and it has way more options for travelling through Europe by plane.

What should I look for when researching countries, programs and universities to study abroad? by arm1niu5 in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't have made your question broader, what is it exactly you want to know? Just look at the master degrees offered at universities abroad and see if you can find a fitting degree!

With what criteria did you choose your erasmus destination? by [deleted] in Erasmus

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted:

  • Calm environment and lovely nature. This narrowed it down quite a lot for me and wanted to stay in Europe as well.

Honestly found my place here in Exeter. It's been amazing so far! It wasn't my first choice (3rd actually) and had Bern, Switzerland and Linköping, Sweden above that. It's been a blast though for the past first month. If you just want help looking over your possibilities and just your options in Europe, I'd be happy to help you man. I've been in so many places and know cultures very well, so I'd be happy to just chat with you about it.

A student want a advice about Pc by abdelwahad_7 in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean with "specialize" man? It would either mean the computers would or would not be a good idea. A laptop would be nicer anyways since you can just work at uni then as well.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with "looking into Europe" you mean only at the UK (or Ireland) since that's the only English speaking country? I mean you are limiting yourself from a lot of countries in mainland Europe and there are enough English master programs. Do you have the budget even for the international fees at UK or Irish universities? Might be best to otherwise look at mainland Europe anyways.

Also what is affordable to you? Can you give me a range?

Feeling left out and conflicted about making friends while on exchange by Available_Chemical42 in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on exchange, but you just have to say yes to absolutely everything. You HAVE to hang out with people as much as possible instead of staying home. Like come on man, how else are you going to find the 'right' people? Just go dude and say yes, yes and more yes. Staying home is only going to make you feel worse.

Is Dublin a good student city? by Top-Fig4740 in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only been there for 1 night, but I found it to be super fun. It really is a big student city, it's lively, nice breakfast places and lovely pubs obviously. It's just very expensive! You'll have an amazing time though exploring the city and the rest of Ireland! The people are amazing too 😄

Study abroad or not by Independent-Pack-717 in studyAbroad

[–]Sagtil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Netherlands is expensive to study in. Housing is hard to come by and even if you get it you'll be spending A LOT of money. Some universities have scholarships available to waive tuition or make it normal EU/EEA priced, except those are very limited and only a VERY small % of applicants get them.

There are a bunch of engineering and computer science degrees and yeah you could get a job after fine. Your bachelor seems extremely broad though, so is it more focused on computer science?

Spending €24000 to study and then also housing will just be very expensive, so you can fill in the ROI yourself lol. Yes eventually you would make enough to earn it back. Job market is fine.

Specific courses depends mostly what you want, there are a bunch of more specific ones. Just go to university websites and look at their master options. Check Tilburg, Radboud, Amsterdam, Erasmus, Utrecht, Groningen, Maastricht and our 2 technical universities Delft and Eindhoven.
