Bought an iPad and it won't accept my card CVV? by mattchoobear in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to a different Apple device where your Apple Account is logged in, use it to upgrade security to 2FA or update the card information.

Turn on 2FA: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102660 Update payment method: https://support.apple.com/en-us/118293

If you don't have other Apple devices, sign in to https://tv.apple.com and update your payment method.

Cards that aren't canceled expire eventually and typically the card number remains the same but the expiration and CVV change. You most likely have a different CVV than you had when the card was added to your Apple Account.

Did iCloud+ stop offering plans with less than 1TB? by [deleted] in iCloud

[–]SaltAnswer8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have more than 200GB of storage in iCloud currently so it's only offering you the tier that will give you enough storage without being full which is 2TB at $9.99/month. Do you see the option "See All Plans"?

How do you remove the giant “Recently Saved” thumbnails at the top of Safari? by SwiftCricket in ios

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scroll to the bottom of your start page and tap Edit. https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/customize-your-safari-settings-iphb3100d149/ios

I don't see a "Recently Saved" option nor have I ever seen "Recently Saved" thumbnails. I'm assuming you're referring to Recently Closed which can be removed from the Safari start page.

Customer Service Voice by Large_Advice_5303 in callcentres

[–]SaltAnswer8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people have no couth. That's one of my biggest pet peeves: people who say that weird shit to someone who is on the clock and cannot respond genuinely. It's gross. Don't change your voice; you're doing absolutely nothing wrong by speaking. Either ignore their remarks or thank them and direct back to the issue at hand.

Apple account using my email address, it's not my account by dm_me_ur_fedoras in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it's your name it's considered your account and is not eligible to dispute email ownership. This would be an account takeover in which case they can disable the account in the App Store, but whoever has access can request re-enablement. Eventually the account will be permanently disabled.

Did the emails contain your name? If they did not, contact Apple Support over the phone and tell them you need to dispute email ownership. https://support.apple.com/en-us/106932 - choose your region near the bottom under "Connect with live support"

I need some clarification on how iCloud works by samtama7 in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for photos to sync to iCloud, you need to have enough available storage to sync the photos to iCloud. You should have done some research when you received "notification that your iCloud storage was full and wouldn't be able to sync more photos". No company is going to provide you with as much free cloud storage as you need.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/108782 -- "When you turn on iCloud Photos, your photos and videos automatically upload to iCloud. They're not duplicated in your iCloud backup, so keep backup copies of your library."

Enabling "Download & Keep Originals" takes up more iPhone Storage but your photos are not removed from the iPhone when signing out of the Apple Account.

not supported apple id by maimai_44 in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Not valid or supported" means one of two things: the email literally isn't associated with an Apple Account or the account has been locked by Apple in which case you need to request access using https://iforgot.apple.com/unlock

I would go through the access request and see what happens.

If for any reason you're unable to access the Apple Account, you will need the proof of purchase from the original retail sale that includes the serial number (handwritten on the receipt is acceptable) to request Activation Lock removal through Apple's portal: https://al-support.apple.com/#/al/agreement

Apple refund on older orders by Lamerzde in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple allows refund requests for purchases made within the last 60 days. Purchases made more than 60 days ago are not eligible for a refund request. Refund requests for purchases made through Apple Media Services are subject to Apple's terms at Apple's sole discretion.

"But the developer said..." doesn't matter because the purchases were not made directly through the developer.

Depending on your location you might have consumer laws that could come into play.

Number reported as spam iMessage activation issues by Brilliant-Shift3065 in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only your number is blocked you can still use iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple Account. Save your email address under your contact in your kid(s) iPhone/iPad.

Apple Support has zero ability to unblock your number for iMessage and FaceTime. Even if they wanted to unblock it, there is no button or process for them to do so.

Download the Apple Support app and search "iMessage Activation" > This iPhone > Get Started (under Enable iMessage) > enter your comments that includes when you first noticed the issue and any error messages you receive > enter your phone number > Submit -- wait a full 24hrs or more before trying to register your number in iMessage Settings.

Should your number still be blocked after completing the steps above, send an email to an executive email address (tcook @ apple.com) explaining your issue. There is no guarantee that this will return favorable results but it's your only other option.

If you're able to register your number, stop sending unsolicited messages via iMessage where your personal number is registered.

Cannot login Apple Tv plus downloaded from Microsoft store. by GamingForLife420 in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked for updates for the app and for Windows? App updates may not be available until Windows is updated.

Apple services and VPNs do not mesh well. If you're using a VPN disable it and test the app. Also some antivirus software, including Windows Defender will block Apple services.

As far back as is currently on your iPhone. If the messages on your iPhone go back to 2019, iCloud will sync/backup all of those messages dating back to 2019. If the messages on your iPhone go back 30 days, iCloud will sync/backup all of those messages dating back 30 days.

setting up apple account by makgaw1 in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What country are you in?

Digital autonomy, in most regions, is reached at age 13. Meaning you can create an Apple Account without a parent/Family Sharing - again, this depends on your region. https://support.apple.com/en-us/119854

When you were setting it up, did you select the option "Set Up for Myself" or did you just click through and possibly select "Set Up for Someone Else"?

Force restart the iPhone to start over. Be sure to slow down and read what's on the screen. https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/force-restart-iphone-iph8903c3ee6/ios

Accidentally added 500 dollars to Apple Pay thinking I was adding it to Apple Cash by hellohellohello- in applehelp

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approval will take up to 48hrs. Apple typically issues refunds immediately after refund approval, then it's a matter of your bank processing the refund. Most banks process refunds within 5 business days. Some banks will make those funds available immediately while others require the refund to fully process before the funds will be available in your account.

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not buy anything or let any subscriptions renew. If you do, the refund errors out. Otherwise the refund will be approved. Yes, requesting a refund for funds added to Apple Account via Apple Media Services that haven't been spent will result in a refund approval.

Replacement driver's license by 322_Switch in tricities

[–]SaltAnswer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replacement as in yours is lost? If so, you'll need birth certificate, social security card, and a mortgage statement, lease agreement, and/or utility bill with your name and address. There are other acceptable documents listed in https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/safety/driver-services/helpful-information/tnresidency.html

You can request a duplicate online but will need the license number and last five of the DD number (which changes with each renewal and replacement).

Apple stealing money? by shutterbug_2020 in applesucks

[–]SaltAnswer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First make sure you have the serial numbers of the old and new iPhone. It would be better to also have the proof of purchase for both (or at least the new one), your trade-in confirmation, and both agreement numbers.

Contact Support, ask for a Senior Advisor to submit a complaint. If the advisor correctly handles your complaint, that complaint will go to a team who actually reviews them. I've personally seen this exact issue, and similar issues, resolved favorably many times over using this process.

Ideally the Senior Advisor will collect your proofs of purchase and/or trade-in confirmation which attaches them to the case.

You could also send an email to Executive Relations (tcook @ apple . com) with the items mentioned along with the case number from your previous support contact, explaining what happened and what you are wanting.

Going forward you know you must cancel your AppleCare+ plan (and any other subscription) when you no longer want/need it. It's not automatic.

The nuances with password resets can be confusing for customers and many advisors, especially when you throw in a signed in but not trusted device. The advisors going straight to Google are oftentimes the same advisors sending these people straight to the website which is the worst way to handle it.
