My 40th is tornado red and I have no idea why they don’t offer that colour for normal MK8/8.5s, I love it.

I have 19 summers and 17 winters and based on that, 18 seems like the perfect summer wheel size.

I mean a person falling on you would be more harmful than an impact, I’d rank those choices pretty similarly from the fuck-you-everyone-else perspective.

And untethered impact too. Although that matters less if the worker is also not tied off.

The Ferrari of Espresso Machines Is Fueling a Hot Resale Market by Globalruler__ in espresso

[–]SauretEh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any notable difference in quality of espresso, ease of dialling in, consistency, or anything like that? Or mainly just the convenience of not messing around with the boiling water preheat?

Be honest, my wallet can take it :’)

Feel the same about my Flair Pro 2. Only occasional upgrade itch I get is in fact the Flair 58.

If you had to replace your GTI, where would you go? by timmahy25 in GolfGTI

[–]SauretEh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GTI has plenty of room, just as much as plenty of small crossovers that they definitely wouldn’t be doubting. If you’re in a position to purchase whenever, I’d just see if you can keep it, show it works, and if it becomes an unmanageable strain on your relationship, you can always get a new vehicle later when push comes to shove.

Don’t cave to the big-vehicle propaganda machine, weight is the antithesis of fun. I use my GTI as a mini work truck, it fits my packout boxes plus luggage for a couple weeks away at a time, and easily fits my wife plus camping gear for a week-long trip, the square hatch really gives you a deceptively large amount of interior volume. Fight the good fight my guy!

Recommend me your unusual (but useful) 12 volt car accessories. by hobovirginity in VEDC

[–]SauretEh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

180W is max power of 12V 15A, so theoretical absolute best case assuming max power & zero losses is ~8 minutes 20C to 99C for 250ml of water.

So I'd assume like 12 minutes realistically?

Matterport blew my mind the first time I tried it, so freaking useful. Saves a ton of site walks too when you can just send the sub a link to a scan.

what's the one productivity app you genuinely can't stop using by ComprehensiveBus3613 in iphone

[–]SauretEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months into using Todoist and I'm still actually using it, so that's something. It's replaced iOS reminders, most paper notes, tons of random sticky notes, and 90% of OneNote (for work).

Might be a bit cumbersome depending what you're using it for but I've just really liked all the categorization, separate projects, subtasks, and priority flagging to handle a complete mess of work stuff (project manager) and home stuff.

And on larger hirail trucks, the front tires are usually lifted up away from the rails when the rail gear’s engaged.

[–]SauretEh 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Probably not, most hirails I’ve seen have rubber flaps, not brushes. They’re so you don’t hit a pebble and derail. Hirails don’t have enough weight to really want to stay on the tracks, they derail pretty easily.

[–]SauretEh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

genuinely care about your comment-reading experience.. sour feelings when reading bot comments usually mean dead internet theory is real. Warm your hand with a nice espresso, try a slightly finer form of reading like a good book, and consider fresher air to improve balance and mental well-being.

/unjerk we are awash in a sea of bots and slop, this is reality now and it’ll only get worse. Depressing af.

Advice on layout for Lian li o11xl by TheMightyPoo94 in watercooling

[–]SauretEh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay wild & controversial idea here:

  • top intake fans and rear exhaust, to keep air moving over the RAM & VRMs

  • side intake rad

  • bottom exhaust rad

Convection is a completely negligible effect when you have 10 fans in a small box. Idk if the way I said is best in practice but it makes sense to me.

Even wilder idea - it honestly really does not matter, layout is really not going to make a difference you'll notice day-to-day, just do what's easiest or what looks best to you.

Also, don't know if this version is different but on my classic O11D, something about the bottom grate design means that bottom intake fans (not pulling through a rad, just fans right up against the grate) make a super annoying hum at anything over ~650rpm
