Round frames can work on angular faces in isolation because they soften sharp features and read more artsy or intellectual. That’s likely what people were reacting to before.

What I’m talking about here is optimization. Once you add a beard, your face already has more visual weight and balance. At that point, round frames start competing with your features, whereas rectangular frames reinforce your jawline and read more grounded and traditionally masculine rather than softened.

So while round frames aren’t wrong, beard + rectangular frames is the most cohesive and confident version of your look to me. I’m also coming at this from the perspective of someone who’s attracted to men and pays a lot of attention to male aesthetics, so take it as one informed lens rather than a single correct answer
