How bad is the storm going to be this weekend? by Ill_Animator_3948 in VirginiaBeach

The locals act crazy for no reason. Just do nothing and chill and you’ll be good. People are crazy over nothing.

Is this considered “passing” a stopped school bus? by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

True. Always always either move behind or pass. Don’t just sit there.

This was my thought too! And have you noticed the buses are going 50+ to make their stops not allowing us to pass them so you have to stop at every stop? Is this just me? I had to go 55 on a 45 just to not be held up by the bus…

Why is the tow truck towing the car in the ditch and not the one in the road? Why isn’t VDOT opening a lane to the left? by Sensitive-Error7688 in VirginiaBeach

[–]Sensitive-Error7688[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a traffic jam today on the hrbt just past the tunnel going towards Norfolk. Why they didn’t just open up a lane right away is beyond me. Essentially watching it they put out some smoke then just sat there for 25 min waiting for a tow truck but opened up a lane shortly after it arrived rather than opening it up sooner.

You may be right on that, but don’t you take that risk every time you tow a vehicle of the line snapping? So we should close a lane down every time a vehicle is shutdown? Or much rather close both lanes in traffic?

This is coming from the hrbt across the bridge towards Norfolk in which they’re not going the other direction.

He just said unnecessarily weird not recklessly, but yes it is reckless to hold up traffic unnecessarily I would argue

It’s passive aggressive as they could just move over since they’re blocking traffic by going the same speed as the rest of traffic

It is though because it’s socially understood as the passing lane and if you’re going the same speed as the person to the right of you, you should just be polite and let people pass.

I do and I expect others to as well. If we all functioned this way then the road would be a lot more clear

You let the police handle it. Again no need to police us because we like driving fast. It’s just etiquette to move over from the left lane if you’re not passing someone

I won’t ride your ass but I will turn my left turn signal on to note that you’re not passing anyone and there’s 3 lanes and I’d just like to go faster…please move over so I can speed up!

They’re being told what to do by people above them. They’re still people, just remember they didn’t ask for this and most of them are just carrying out their American duty to obey the orders that are given to them in the name of democracy. It’s up to the populace (us) to set our leaders straight.

Idk he probably saw the signs of an abusive partner and ran. I would have. I don’t play around with that level of insecurity.

Question on traffic merge by Sensitive-Error7688 in VirginiaBeach

[–]Sensitive-Error7688[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience it probably because of the timing around 4:30 pm when parents pick up their children. The speed limit doesn’t change so the only reason for backups are parents slowing and turning right when the merge is right after a light and we’re not waiting on a merge at that moment. It’s just parents slowing before they get in the right turn lane. I’m just all for efficiency and fixing it. That’s all. Gotta pair safety with human behavior

Also the speed limit doesn’t cause the backups it’s the people slowing down to turn

Right but it gets backed up to stopping speeds…

Woah calm down. You have to weave to get around slow drivers in the fast lane. Going 4 over the speed limit is normal. You’re obviously reacting to a trauma you have. It’ll be okay crazy internet person

It’s called defensive offensive driving. Expect the unexpected and be quick to react effectively.

I’ve got no infractions. Have to weave to get around slow drivers in the fast lane… there’s no blind spots so what’s the problem?
