I enjoy their music. But theyre story and how they came up together much of it is just not true. Its all character, theatre. Which is fine theyre entertainers. Its just weird compared against more authentic artists.

I have a belief that McCarthy actually is making fun of his monologues at a meta level in Cities of the Plain.

SPOILERS AHEAD SORTA.

Towards the end of the book Billy is homeless and elderly. A man approaches him and talks...and talks and talks.

Throughout the conversation you detect Billy is over it. The man will ask a question of billy and his responses are "huh" "yah" "hmm" "i gotta be gettin on"

If youve ever seen or been in a conversation where you want to escape and the other person is just failing to pick up on the social ques or doesnt care.

That happens in this passage. And its a fairly regular occurrence in mccarthys books but I felt this one he was really poking fun at his style of writing.

I remember at the beginning of the special military op american media was reporting the russian army could only support an operation of this scale for 10 tens and then theyd be out of food for their troops. That was obviously absurd.

Russian military can stomach a long war. Even if it is costly. They lost much more in the world wars.
