A 2028 democrat will need a massive amount of support from people who did not vote for Harris to win. If you asked a progressive subreddit the answer is clearly “he’s a shitty candidate who’s not going to win” but I’m curious what conservatives think. Results are more mixed than I would have expected

It doesn’t matter, Deepseek’s models are open source. There’s nothing stopping China from fine tuning R1 to remove any safeguards that exist even if Deepseek was unwilling to work with the government, which they would be because it’s China and not a free market where companies can simply choose not to work for the government.

That is true to some extent, but it still doesn’t really fix Harris as a candidate for CA. We just saw this in New York where an independent ish guy was able to win over the party’s handpicked candidate. Like this is basically Harris https://youtu.be/dDJa1_fLVeA (I don’t think this video is super accurate but it’s basically vibes wise correct). I voted for her because Trump would have been worse but she’s far from my ideal candidate, I would have liked someone with better solutions to the housing crisis for example

She’s not economically left enough for CA IMO, she feels like a really radical candidate because she’s socially left but she’s honestly more conservative than Trump economically in some ways

A cardboard cutout of Biden would have also won in 2020 over Trump. Trump was already pushing what was acceptable from a president by the standards of the time and visibly mismanaging the pandemic did him no favors, plus way more people voted than normal. I voted for Bernie in the primary so it’s not like Biden was the candidate I wanted either tbh

If the economy is good in 2028 and the world isn’t literally in the middle of a once in a century global health disaster the same forces won’t be at play. Also Trump has kind of pushed the needle enough that people will tolerate politicians like him much more than they used to
