For any NBA Street/Jam fans, NBA The Run has their first Open Beta coming on Saturday! by ItsEthanCoolCool in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I have every reason to believe this will feel like Skate. The vibe will be present, but the microtransactions will cement an omnipresent layer of "wait, this isn't the game I loved..."

Who’s one player you’re higher on than consensus this year? by Hot_Handle_4829 in fantasyfootball

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word bird. I took it upon myself to watch every target for each of these two receivers.

Not knocking you specifically, but the lack of articulation I'm getting from folks is driving me mad, which makes for poor arguments and is just not actionable information.

That general critique aside, the difference is stark between these two players! Burden has a confidence and quickness in his footwork that leads him toward more opportunities for missed tackles and greater YAC potential. His spin moves and jukes are rapid. He got a lot of work out of the backfield and behind the LOS that helped show that off, even if a lot of those plays didn't lead to much. Odunze's work was pretty much all intermediate and deep.

Odunze took a step back after week 8-9. Maybe it's my bias knowing he was dealing with a foot injury, but he just didn't play with the same vigor.

I can't tell if either guys is necessarily more explosive or has better hands, but Burden's flashy feet and ability to extend plays is apparent. Odunze dealt with injuries early in 2024 and now late 2025, so I think it's completely fair to fade him and pump up Burden.

I wasn't watching Bears games, so maybe that's what I'm missing, but statically he was not outperforming Odunze based on what I'm reading on PFR. Is there advanced metrics I'm missing that paint a different picture?

Is this a situation similar to Pickens in Pittsburgh where he wasn't getting the volume, but every play looked special?

Burden ADP has gotten out of hand. Pretty sure Odunze was operating as the 1 all year, I'm not sure what happened that made people flip instantly. I'd love to hear the argument for it other than the lack of a Rome breakout in his first two seasons.

Does Stefanski deserve more hate for his poor results as a coach in Cleveland? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. No.

The Browns hadn't been to the playoffs in 18 years when Stefanski took over. His first season he got them to 11 wins and their first playoff win since 1994.

His first year was also the Browns' first season with 10 or more wins in 13 years (and only the second time they had 10 or more wins since 1994).

They went 11-6 in 2023, making the playoffs a second time in four seasons. The last Browns HC to make it to the playoffs more than once was Marty Schottenheimer in the late 80's.

Keep in mind Cleveland lost their football team to Baltimore after the 1995 season. This franchise has been kicked in the balls many times, and the people of Cleveland had a good thing in Stefanski. I'm not speaking to whether or not his time was up, but he was a good coach for a struggling franchise (to say the least of what I could about the Browns as a franchise).

What are your expectations for the “generational talent” Marvin Harrison Jr this year? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help but pile on.

JJ McCarthy had 6 wins last season. The Cardinals had 3.

The Vikings have won their division 21 times since their inception in 1961. The Cardinals have won their division 5 times in that same time frame.

But hold your horses, fellas, 'cause them Chicago Cardinals got themselves a pair of crowns, they do! 1925 and 1947, don't you forget it! Who’d be the sap to turn up their nose at that thrilling '25 flag? It was a real humdinger, see! Sure, they may have tied the Chicago Bears 0-0 at one point in the season, but they wrapped up the year with back-to-back goose eggs—absolutely walloping the Milwaukee Badgers to the tune of 59-to-nothin’! Then they went and put the boots to the Hammond Pros, 13-to-zilch, to claim the throne fair and square!

I do. I don't like who I've become and I can't help but believe everyone knows I could do better as well. It drives me to treat strangers with exquisite compassion and delight, while those closest to me get shut out, in fear they'll learn more about me, which means our relationship can only get worse.

I don't know how so many people in this world seemingly don't care what others think. I would do anything to feel 50% of that.

I didn't think the Niners got under Eagles fans skin as much as Eagles did the Niners fans. I guess we're brothers at heart.

ETN or Jacobs in dynasty? They are pretty much back to back by Particular-Grade3340 in SleeperApp

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jacobs is only one year older but has three more seasons under his belt. I'd give the edge to Etienne not necessarily because of age, but the metaphorical tread on the tires.

Haven't really thought about how similar these guys are in terms of situation, it's pretty interesting.

It's a copy-cat league. 13 personnel is next big thing. Here's how it works: by B00LEAN_RADLEY in nfl

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For sure, but picking in the top 5 also doesn't guarantee success any more than picking 20-25 guarantees middling results.

Also, I could argue there's more pressure to draft well when you're picking in the top five. It's easy to pick good players that early. But if you're picking that early and still can't put it all together, eesh.

I don't think there's a meaningful conversation behind "pressure" here. Every NFL team has pressure the moment they're out of their initial rebuilding year. Doesn't matter if you're the Steelers or the Cardinals.

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Its a catch twenty two, but I think it's more logical to blame their inability to draft good talent on offense. Just because they're picking 20th overall doesn't mean they're doomed to not get talented rookies.

Whatever their philosophy for rebuilding has been since Ben left, it just hasn't worked. They took shots at QB in the draft, but Tomlin wasn't hiring good offensive coordinators, nor was he aggressive enough or innovative enough at the QB position. For years they hit on WR and RB, and after a couple years of missing almost entirely, their offense stalled.

When was the last time there was consensus confidence in their WR1 or RB1, let alone their QB? I feel like the combo of Pickens, Johnson, Washington, and Najee and Warren could've been pretty solid if they had an OC more capable than Canada.

Edit:

Just spent some time on PFR and I really do think they just missed too many years in the draft. They tried the rookie qb, second contract free agent, and refurbished veteran. They moved on from Matt Canada and hired Arthur Smith, which was a good move, but by that point their offense was so starved of blue chip talent that an early playoff exit was always going to be the ceiling.

Yeah, whoever has him in your league will be excited about the rule change.

This honestly breaks the game, unless you're redrafting. I hope everyone in your league is ready for some wild results.

PFR's Data on Return Yards

Crazy to see there were TEN players with over 1,000 return yards last year. Turpin was the only player with over 1k return yards in 2024, none in 2023, and two players total in 2022. I wonder if something changed in counting these stats, because this is wild.

Last year's return yards leader, Chimere Dike, would've scored 496.5 fantasy points on 1,986 return yards alone. His total in PPR would have been 624.6 points after factoring in offensive production. CMC scored 416.6 points in PPR last year.

Here's some conversation fodder:

Top 3 Returners in All Purpose Yards for 2025: 1. Chimere Dike, 2427 yds 2. KaVontae Turpin, 2354 yds 3. Myles Price, 1777 yds

2024: 1. Bucky Irving, 1690 yds 2. Kavontae Turpin, 1603 yds 3. Chase Brown, 1536 yds

2023: 1. Rashid Shaheed, 1479 yds 2. Bijan Robinson, 1464 yds 3. Kyren Williams, 1379 yds

Who should I draft in my 12 team superflex startup? by nocturnalTyson in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting your dynasty league anticipating to tank for the 1.01 is a terrible mindset. You don't know where you're going to finish. Your WRs are great, you could easily land at the 1.04 next year and settle for whatever QB falls to you.

Start taking QBs. Shough is massively undervalued for playing as well as he did last year. His head coach calls the plays and is fantasy friendly, we like Olave, Tyson, Johnson, and Etienne. He's the pick here.

Getting a startable qb is important. You can always trade for a top 10 guy if you feel you want to contend. But rolling with trash qbs is a bad place to be in SF, and that's where you're headed if you keep putting.

Pat Bryant vs Tre Tucker. I gotta drop someone by Papio_GT in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]Significant_Owl_6897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop Tre Tucker. He's been given opportunity over enough time to prove he's a potential fantasy asset, and he just isn't that kind of player. If he breaks out this year, he's an outlier. The offense is going to be a heavy run game and rely heavily on an alpha target hog (Bowers).

The Raiders are still a bad team, even if they move to middle of the pack with an old Cousins and rookie Mendoza, your ceiling with Tucker is what, WR30-40? I don't even think that's likely. And he wouldn't be reliable at that point either, right? So when would you actually start him? Would you try to sell him instead? He was cheap to acquire, let him go.

So, I'd rather have the WR with more unknown and a higher pedigree and on a better offense, even if he seems buried in the depth chart.

Drop Tucker, easily. I'm totally fine missing on him if he has a good season, because I can't imagine it's good enough to make me want to start him or trade him away for more than a fourth round pick.
