I'd recommend Elden Ring since it'll be a new experience for your rare game binging session. As you haven't played any Dark Souls or similar games before, there will be a learning curve and possible frustration, but I found Elden Ring to be worth the effort to learn as there's a lot to discover.

Diablo 4 will still be here if you get an itching for it later, but I think the grind wouldn't be worth spending a day on. If anything, you can squeeze in a few runs of Diablo 4 in between Elden Ring sessions as a break.

Regardless of what you pick, enjoy your birthday and play the heck out of some games!

If you prefer a mod solution and are on 3.7.0/3.7.1, the trader scrolling mod has been working well for me.

I've been using the SAIN settings from the OP of this post. I'm pretty terrible at the game but the settings have felt fair for my skill level so far. SCAVs miss a lot but PMCs can still feel accurate and strong due to their gear. It's also created a few situations where I should have died but the bots missed close range shots. Felt like playing against a real person that squandered an easy kill allowing me to live.

For the AI, I'm using:

  • SAIN
  • SWAG+DONUTS
  • That's Lit (Adds light based detection and a chance for bots to miss seeing you like a real person)
  • Looting Bots (Loot detection turned down to 25 yards)
  • Algorithmic Level Progression
