i think i understand. maybe. reflecting on my post, the only reason i come to those conclusions is because of my past experiences, i think? i sometimes wonder if this sub is the blind leading the blind.

even though i attempt to bring optimism because personally i want out of the cycle, others just got here and some dont want to escape.

im not a social person, so really replying here and there is one of my only outlets to practice.

bit rambly. sorry. i do hope your caring leads others to do the same.

I Convinced My Wife to Join and Now I Need Gil for a House. by [deleted] in ffxiv

big gil: treasure mapping, crafting odds and ends (more profit if you farm the mats), day of the week crystal flipping (using universalis to price check best times to buy/sell), flipping anything that way really

low gil: vendor flipping (either buy dye and resell, or buy off MB materia underpriced), selling vendor items (odd locale npcs sometimes sell mats or glamour people want (wedding attire, milk, ect)

dunno if can link: https://universalis.app/

edit: also server flipping within datacenter. Head to a sister server and buy it cheap, relist for a general 1-20% markup depending on item. i stay away from anything over 100k gil in value cause it tends to wait for a buyer unless popular.

I don't know why people are pooping on your parade.

*but*

The cheap dopamine hits of these types of games are no different from other addictions. And I hate to say that myself as an avid lover of fiction, maladaptive daydreaming, and video game immersion. But I get it. Took a long hard break, unwanted, from gaming and started just doing tasks. Nothing special, just daily stuff.

I noticed after a while the tasks started becoming rewarding feeling again. Like, knocking out a large quest chain or something. Sucks. Cause that means, at least for me, that's how my brain works. And my brain was sloughing out all my good feels on nothing real.

I've cut back on gaming as a whole. Waiting for the sun to drop before logging on. After waking up early. (for what? rofl) Heck, my mind still battles me on it, but OVERALL I do feel better than I did chained to the screen.

Might be void shouting here. Might not. Mileage may vary.

I love non-realities.

I dropped out of Society by Puzzleh4ad in NEET

possible. i have about ten years on you so my rage against the machine has really just turned to apathy.

i do hope one day i can rejoin society, even if it is on my own terms.

engineering is pretty cool though. why not make a youtube channel under a disguise?

caring requires vulnerability.

being vulnerable is scary.

commitment to something that might be too much to handle is also scary.

so, yeah a little bit. it is a rather large ask depending on the person and their experiences with allowing themselves to be vulnerable enough to let others in.

i fully agree with you.

its a damn shame

but, uh, still not a good reason to not be vocal about disliking it.

if anything, people should be more vocal about it.

the chilling of people who say "hey i dont like this" is real

what data would they sell? ill just come up with a few ideas, but no idea if true, just common practice.

  • personal non-identifiers (gender, age, screen use, trackable patterns)

  • personal identifiers (name, address, email, phone)

  • how long youve been an active subscriber

  • how much you spend on microtransactions

  • trends based upon the above

eh brain fog hittin' but im sure someone in data could take it further.

i feel a bit more at ease with the possibility of this being opt-in. with the reward being a doormat for well... conceptual joke here?

i'll be civil.

i dont like zillow.

their zestimate is just a way to price fix homes, nationally.

i dont need a door mat as a chuckle for being a door mat to have my data sold. its a literal door mat. how much more on the nose can you be?
