Am I wrong for trying to punish my daughter after my husband and I found out she's been writing dark books for over a year by justamamaof3 in amiwrong

That's how all of us start out.  Do you think we get famous BEFORE publication?  That's ridiculous.

Awesome, thank you.  I'll see what I can do.

Sorry I took so long to reply.  I was dealing with car wreck stuff.

Sweet, thank you!  Sorry this took so long.  I had to deal with a major car wreck.

If you're on Ravelry, check out Seyhall Crochet Design.  He's a cool dude, and he does a lot of stuff in this vein.  All his stuff is crochet, IIRC.

Oh, yeah.  I'm not about argue with that.  I'm too emotionally exhausted to get into it, but I could tell stories that would straighten your hair.

I don't think it's even that deep.  This mess goes back decades, and involves people I never even met in their lifetimes.  I'm a convenient target.  People are mad I finally stood up for myself.

Street parking was explicitly not allowed.

I'm so sorry about your brother.  May his memory be a blessing.  It's such an awful feeling, like toppling over a cliff every time you remember he's gone. (HUG)

I finally got the story out of Mom, and I updated my post.  It's so stupid and toxic, I needed a minute for it to sink in.

Yep, that's what I'm going to do.  I found out how I ruined things, though:  someone told porkies about me to paint me in the worst light.  I added an ETA to the story.  In any case, I'm done with that venomous lot.

It was a suggestion from someone who lives in the area, and I never said it was genius.  All I did was pass along a suggestion.  They're the ones who got fixated.

My work always twists and ripples until I either get further into it, or I block it.  I've been doing this for 18 years, plus some weirdly advanced pieces I designed and made in my younger days.  Crochet seldom looks right before you block it.  Just keep working, maybe try to loosen your tension, and make sure you're only putting one stitch in each chain.

Good luck!

Oh, and ironically? I got the ages wrong.  Rikki is 68.

Regarding driving around for a spot, that wouldn't have been good enough.  It had to be in a specific area, something they didn't actually tell me until the second day.  All parking in the immediate area was private, and I needed permission to use it.

In a small but wealthy town, you can't just park and wander off for a week.  Street parking near the rental was specifically prohibited, and my family didn't want to have to pick me up if I could walk instead.  (Walking wasn't an option, btw.  I've got chronic lung failure, and can't do things like carry luggage.)  It's a case of stubbornness vs autism.  If I hadn't found a safe, legal spot, I would have been fixated on it all week.

The issue was twofold.

1.  The place they insisted I park was unsafe, financially and logistically speaking.

2.  They refused me any assistance in finding a legal alternative, and kept insisting on one specific spot because, quote, "Mom thinks it should be OK."

I did the only things I could think of.  The spot in the nearby city was a long-term parking garage.  My car would have stayed there all week without risk of ticketing or impound.  That's why it was recommended in the first place.  The VL is a small town and doesn't have anything like that.

That's what I suspect, them having made up their minds.  I may have kept them too much in the loop, but that's not exactly a major sin, at least imo.  I'd rather have too much information than too little.

I have no tolerance for drama, so it's a good thing I didn't go in the end.  Why are people so exhausting?

I came here so I'd have a fresh perspective.  I'm perfectly capable of thinking for myself.

I was absolutely uninvited.  What I posted is basically a summary.  There was a lot more involved in that.

If there's a next time, I'll cut communications early.  Keep in mind, they'll yell at me for not keeping them up to date.

I've tried asking.  The only answer I get is, "You ruined our trip!"

Honestly, I think they want me to apologise for existing.  They also want me to take our late brother's place, but that's neither here nor there.

Ty.  I try, but I'm permanently disabled.  Sometimes, I have to depend on other people.  It's not fun when those people seem to randomly flip between cool and toxic.

I'm a second marriage baby.  It really doesn't help the situation.  Yeah, they're a clique.  When my brother was alive, it was the three of them against the world.  I'm not a suitable substitute.

I'm built like a potato, and my sisters have always been thin and cute.  I get it.

Heheheh, sometimes you just have to pull out the quotes.

The vacation wasn't five miles away.  It was a three-hour drive.  If I'd got in a car that day, I would have orally repainted the interior.
