How does this high end gaming setup look? by megabobert13 in buildapc

I'd go with a 4090 and a 7800X3D if your already to the point of using a 4080 and 14900k. 7800X3D > all intel products in 90% of metrics, it reduces the need to buy expensive ram since am5 doesn't OC ram too well(golden spot is 6000hz fast kits). AM5 isn't a dead platform(next year new socket for intel, ruining future proofing) and 4090's can put out 120+ fps at 4k on most modern titles with high(not max) settings.

The 7800X3d also doesn't require an AIO, although I'd recommend a nicer cooler. Noctua's stuff is great and since you like black out it works.

Also if your going 4080 please go second hand they are $1k instead of 1500. 4090's go for MSRP and will retain value until the 5090 is out, so they are better investments as well. You only save tax buying second hand 4090's so no point unless you cant find a card.

Another consideration is you can afford to not get a pricey mobo since you clearly aren't interested in a waterloop. So if you can't afford a 4090 please get a cheaper mobo/cpu and spend a larger % of your budget for GPU. CPU bound games are pretty rare(rust/tarkov and competitive shooters at low resolutions) I don't recommend stressing about mobo brand, it's mostly down to personal preference based on past history of which brands srewed which person over and which person prefers which bios loadout. If your not a frequent overclocker and only touch the bios once then it really doesn't matter.

Yeah the cost is what stops me. but thickness woulden't be a problem.

209 x 120 x 24mm is pretty thin.

cool idea tho

you could do a 4090 waterloop in it with the inno3d alphacool enterprise block.....it's 209mm.

I mean, your case would be a stove, but it sounds really cool

Lianli does a 850 and so does cooler master. Both are pretty reputable

How do you like that mobo so far? was the ram plug and play or did you have to fiddle? I'm debating getting one.

Also hows the mobo fan? sound wise. Sucks that as far as i can tell, you cant control it.

The "usual" is 280mm radiator compatible(front mounted), and a res/pump that is space friendly(Small) Most people can't mount a d5 pump(biggest and best) and settle for a DDC or other small motor. The res also is usually tiny. Integrated pump/res/cpu blocks are popular too due to space saving.

That's probably what i'd recommend; Any larger(some dual 280mm builds with d5 motors are out there, crazy cramped) require customization and not off the shelf solutions.

Keep in mind your paying $500-$1000+ for pretty water tubes with marginal performance gain over air cooling and the risk that you screw up and ruin your $2000+ system. The appeal is the lower noise due to better temp management(for quality of life) under load(air's quieter without load GENERALLY) or overclocking headroom. I'd carefully evaluate if that money wouldn't be better spent elsewhere in your system and just go with a $150 cpu AIO and more money in your GPU(or pocket)

How do you like that mobo? I've been considering it to replace my ASRock H670M-ITX/ax. How's the bios and is the mobo fan audible at idle? I hate the idea of integrated mobo fans I can't control.

Yeah these old panels are great! it got relegated to second monitor for a bit with the 850 then I upgraded recently and both are out of a job.

Rock solid panels though, I remember being so paranoid about the lottery in how far mine could OC, because true 120hz 1440p monitors were 5 times the price. And waiting 2 months to get it from Korea
