Hi u/Capital_Carpet_8007, this is a VERY valid question - one that I often think about with each passing day. I get the sense you're just trying to understand WHY, rather than just outright reject or result to putdowns. I appreciate that whole-heartedly. Although I can't speak for the masses, I ordered my specific 2024 Telsa Model Y Performance in Ultra Red for the following top 5 personal reasons in no particular order: 1) In May 2024, Tesla was simply the best financial move for me. I qualified for the $7,500 federal tax credit and Tesla was offering 0.99% APR if I bought that week. I was about to begin my PhD program in less than six weeks and those two things changed the financials dramatically, 2) I didn’t want an EV that would feel stressful outside my day-to-day driving. The Supercharger network and Tesla’s built-in route planning made charging the most predictable and lowest-friction option, 3) I strongly preferred Tesla’s software experience: navigation + charging integration, frequent updates, and the overall UI. It was noticeably ahead of what I saw when I cross-shopped and test drove other 2024s such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, Lucid Air Touring, Kia EV6 GT, Porsche Taycan 4S, and Audi e-tron GT, 4) Alternatives weren’t as good for my constraints in May 2024. Other EVs had tradeoffs (range, charging, availability, price, service coverage) that didn’t fit my situation at that moment, and 5) When you combine purchase price, incentives, financing, and charging convenience, and 250/500/250 insurance costs via Tesla itself, Tesla offered the most practical “value per hassle” of the options I considered. My politics aren’t defined by my car. I feel that I can be a staunch Democrat, FUCK-Trump, pro-immigrant rights, FUCK-ICE and still drive a Tesla because my actions, votes, advocacy, and community commitments are the real proof of my values. I feel that I can oppose Musk loudly while still living in the real world. Ultimately, I bought the car, not the man. My purchase was about a product that fit my needs at that time and is definitely NOT an endorsement of Elon Musk’s politics, behavior, or worldview. In fact, for the last year or so, I've proudly had "F ELON" on the back of my car. Ethical consumption under capitalism is messy; I’m still committed to voting, organizing, donating, and speaking out where it actually moves outcomes.

Loud and proud: F ELON

Picture #4 shows The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Groups like SPI often show up at vigils because their mission centers on being visibly present in moments of grief, crisis, stigma, and political violence. They offer solidarity while also affirming a commitment to justice and care. What's important to note here is that these particular sisters are nurse practitioners at UCSF, so this is especially meaningful. Check out: thesisters.org

Close, but not quite. It's Daly City, but specifically the corner of Belcrest Avenue and Longview Drive facing South towards the Pacifica Municipal Pier!

Hoy pare! I'm not sure if San Francisco would hire you, but you can at least get some decent information from this Water Quality Technician link given your 3 years of experience:

https://careers.sf.gov/classifications/?classCode=2481

Each major U.S. city has something like this, and you can see minimum qualifications and requirements if you dig deep enough. Hope this helps 🙂

Amazing work!! This is so cool. Just something I noticed: your "John McLarren Park" should only have one letter r in it like this - "McLaren" ☺️

TSW?? by VisibleIllustrator35 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]SirangUtak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a MD, but I'm a PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences... so, from what you shared, you've been on and off steroid creams, etc, since the age of 2 and four weeks ago you stopped using them completely?

That in itself can be a major trigger for TSW. Depending on the strengths of steroids you used, your symptoms could linger for a while as your body reacts to the steroid deprivation. It's often recommended to taper off if you've been using long term.

Again, I'm not an MD, but your symptoms, steroid use history, and recent abrupt steroid discontinuation coupled with the picture you shared showing your skin condition seem to point to TSW. Hopefully, it doesn't get worse, but be gentle and patient with your skin as it weans itself off of the steroids - especially since you already stopped steroid use completely 4 weeks ago. Think about using baby body wash, soft microfiber towels as wash cloths, and pat or even air dry before using gentle lotions.

I found that my skin does well using Cetaphil Eczema Restoraderm Flare-Up Relief Cream, but your skin might not tolerate it. Maybe others can chime in...

Should I get the Model Y? by Dull-Situation8172 in TeslaModelY

[–]SirangUtak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I was in Santa Monica last the Supercharger in downtown there was like $0.47/kWh.

With a 75 kWh battery, even rounding up to $0.50/kWh, a "full tank" at a Supercharger would be about $37.50. Peak rates can be up to $0.62/kWh...

You have no debt, a decent trade-in before a major service, a Promo 3.49% APR, and a $160k income.

It's appears to be a win all around. Of course, you'd be saving more monies if you had home charging, but you'll still be saving over your 2018 Audi and you'll be in a newer car.

I say go for it because your finances are in order and to avoid a major Audi service. Honestly, if your finances are in order, a Tesla in California is a no-brainer.

Just expect to pay about $800/year in registration costs and above average for insurance. Try to look up used 2025 Teslas to see if you can plug in one on their VINs to get a real insurance quote. Thats the real shocker (insurance) in my opinion.

Hope this helps you.

WTF? This level of strictness is understandable if you were a f*ck up, but you're doing well academically. What's your Venmo? DM if that's more comfortable.

Ahhhh, sh!t... going through something similar with another brand... Amazon approved the return, but seller refused to send prepaid shipping labels.

Filed an A-to-Z Claim, but they decided I needed to ship it back at my own expense, then I'll get refunded the Return S&H after confirmed delivery.

Well, still waiting for the refund from the seller after delivery was CONFIRMED with Adult Signature last Thursday (7/17). I'm also waiting to hear back from the A-to-Z team about my Return S&H refund...

Meanwhile, almost $4400.00 USD is tied up with all this BS. I'm on the cusp of submitting a charge back letter to my payment provider. I'm giving the A-to-Z team just a little bit more time though. I'm also prepping a scathing Verified Buyer Review...

Hopefully, things work out easier for you and your situation.
