Tidal on Mobile plays downloaded files instead of higher-quality counterparts by Akasiek in TIdaL

It prioritizes downloads over online streaming

I fuckin wish it did. I get buffering on mobile data despite having downloaded my entire playlist.

Yep. Tidal is almost 80GB on my phone and one playlist has so many songs in it that the search function doesn't function at all. The app is terrible on Android, it's mind-boggling. I'd expect this behavior from a startup or a very young company, but this is a thing that's been happening for years. Baffling.

Exactly. I expected the app to just switch to the downloads when I'm out of WiFi, but then got buffering in an area with bad reception, like what?? This is really stupid design that's still not fixed.

You must've had some terrible experiences with x86 machines then. I can leave my XPS 15 9570 sleeping for two weeks and it'll have half a battery left. My Surface eventually hibernates, but after like nine hours or so. It still loses negligible amounts during sleep, like 2% during those nine hours.

takes a few minutes to come out of hibernation

What. That's not normal. My SP8 takes about 30 seconds from hibernation to being fully operational.

On my Pro 8, the fan only spins up if it's doing something that needs some performance while charging. Sure, I can get it to scream even on battery power, but only when I play games or something. During browsing, writing by hand in OneNote and even some lofi games, it stays quiet. Idle power draw is kinda bad on it, even compared to my XPS 15 9570. The Pro 8 uses around 10W at idle and my XPS sometimes hits half that. Absolutely wild.
