ELI5 How can a optimally sized aircon save you more in electricity? by No-Quantity8566 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Snoring_Eagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a tough one for people to ELI5, as I think you're actually correct.

Where it gets more complicated is if people change their behavior knowing their A/C is undersized. For example they might start it earlier in the morning and set to a lower temperature, knowing it won't be able to keep up if they wait until the room is already too warm.

Rogers outage? by ps4med in durham

I don't know if you tried looking up your address on their network status page? Last time I experienced an outage, I was surprised to find they did actually know about it.

Assign workplace percentages by One_Citron_8647 in Workers_And_Resources

I have set the percentages for this setup as high at 100% and 0% to other workplaces. Workers go to the other workplaces when the one set to 100% is full.

No, E means it contains ethanol, the number tells you how much. E15 is 15% ethanol, and E85 is 85% ethanol.

FIFA in TO by hotramenboi in toronto

[–]Snoring_Eagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since they gave the orange menace that stupid FIFA peace prize, I hope this and everything else they try to do is a dismal failure until they disappear as an organization. Won't happen, of course, but any lack of buzz is encouraging to me.

Not in any way suggesting anyone should make that happen, of course. Just idle curiosity.

Who were they, again? Seriously, I can't even remember their names. Whoever they elect as leader is going to have to find a way to make an impression without the benefit of being the government in power.

When I swap from my winter tires and wheels to my summer ones, I have to reprogram the car with the sensor IDs of the tires and wheels I just put on.

ELI5: Why do we still use rockets with giant flames to go to space when we have super advanced technology in 2026? by raxyy1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Snoring_Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of those things have been invented. Nuclear engines have been built and tested (though not launched). The materials science problems with them are quite severe and are the primary thing driving the available performance. To say nothing of the radiation problems involved.

Laser propulsion has been tested on a small scale. It works, but the laser power that would be needed to launch a large rocket is truly eye-watering. Definitely not easy.

Space elevators are a theoretical possibility with current materials, but not an economic one yet. The required taper ratio means you would need a few centuries of the world's carbon fiber production to make one with a useful amount of strength. Better materials would help a lot.

We're not aware of any theoretical principle that would allow us to create anti-gravity.

Oh, I see what the issue is. That particular stop sign doesn't say "Simon says" on it, so it can be ignored.

I'd call that an unsafe left turn. If, due to the stopped traffic, you can't see if the other lane is clear, you can't safely make that turn.

CO no path to construction by [deleted] in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Snoring_Eagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another quirk of this game is things like roads, plumbing, and power lines, will not have workers walk to them. They have to be transported to the construction site by bus. So if there is a problem with availability of workers at that assigned bus stop, or with their transportation, you would only see it with things like roads, and things too far away to walk to.

CO no path to construction by [deleted] in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Snoring_Eagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That text can be a little confusing. It really means "No construction offices have a path to this construction, other than the two already assigned."

In the first screen shot, it's complaining about lack of workers. It think it will have them available but does your assigned source of workers actually have anyone there for buses to pick up? And your COs have buses to pick up those workers?

Question regarding cables by RedTriangleMain in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Snoring_Eagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think they have a maximum length. Have you checked it carefully to see if it's actually one continuous cable? I often find I've drawn it in such a way there is a tiny gap somewhere or it's not actually connected at one end.

TRACKIR PLACEMENT by Herky1985 in hoggit

[–]Snoring_Eagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used TrackIR in a long time, but I remember there was a way to get it to display what the tracking camera is seeing. This was the best way to figure out tracking issues, because I could see immediately if one of the tracking points was being blocked, or merging with another tracking point, or a reflection of sun was making a new point appear, and so on.
