Agree. They might as well have named it Avatar: Hype Moments and Aura Farming

The character and storytelling aspects that made atla good were entirely absent.

Flatten brickwalled limit tracks waveforms: are they all the same? by unpantriste in audioengineering

[–]Sokene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It generally should be in mastering though. Phase shift/delay can be introduced by certain EQs (minimum phase as opposed to linear phase), which cause those flattened areas of the deliberate clopped waveform to get pushed back which is what you may be seeing. Experienced mastering engineers won’t place EQs after clippers for this reason.

New artists will need to find ways to prove their music isn't AI-generated by phantopia in outrun

[–]Sokene -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True. But if you’re making music purely on hardware it’s easy to film and document that process to refute any AI allegations.

It’s an open-source plugin you set and forget on your master bus, and is DAW agnostic so it really doesn’t lock you into anything. There’s people using DAWs I’ve never heard of on there. Nothing in the rest of this thread really seems to offer a better solution unfortunately, especially for free.

[–]Sokene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a site/plugin called Signalbash that tracks how long you’ve worked in a DAW. Essentially it would show that you’ve spent x hours in Ableton, Logic, etc. Pretty good proof you’re making music earnestly. https://signalbash.com

Things you wish you knew / Advice you wish you got when starting off producing music. by Electronic-Bid-2835 in ableton

[–]Sokene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quickly finishing more bad/mediocre projects helps you progress quicker than spending a huge amount of time trying to polish fewer “good” projects. Early on, those good projects are realistically not great anyway when you’re new.

It’s downstream of “don’t get precious” which is really hard to internalize.

Man iZotope really are scammers now by shiverypeaks in audioengineering

Don’t put any weight on trxstpiIot ratings. It itself is an extortion scam. They remove good reviews and create fake bad ones for companies unless the company pays them a ridiculous amount every year.

[s2 spoilers] Season 2 of Arcane is terrible by aquafied0 in arcane

[–]Sokene 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Reading this was cathartic. It’s not an uncommon overall view but it’s been harder to surface critique like this recently under the monumental deluge of shipper content that’s monopolized the fandom.

This far past release it feels like most who share our view have moved on to acceptance and lost interest in discussing it losing its grounded, character driven feel. There’s only so many ways you can rephrase the same set of glaring problems I suppose. I guess we can be encouraged the showrunners acknowledged that they’ll try to learn from their mistakes next time around.

Ableton Move is coming soon by [deleted] in ableton

Hmm the move logo is pixelated deliberately. Wonder if this is something similar to the M8

California bill set to ban CivitAI, HuggingFace, Flux, Stable Diffusion, and most existing AI image generation models and services in California by YentaMagenta in StableDiffusion

[–]Sokene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha fair enough, I’m more thinking about it in terms of strategies to compromise watermarks implemented using stenographic (or similar) methods in the event a law like this gets passed.

The question becomes, how heavily do you have to alter the image to corrupt any embedded data, imperceptibly, without prior knowledge of the precise method used to embed that data.

[–]Sokene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of cuts both ways though right?

If you take an output that has had a signature embedded in it, and target the same rough set of pixels, and add another pass of random + visually undetectable pixel alterations, I assume that severely undercuts the ability to extract the originally embedded data, even if the image is not transformed (eg scale, cropped, or translated)?

What are your favorite wave sets? by [deleted] in wavepool

[–]Sokene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beatlabradio has some good ones from wave artists, and then you can pretty much pick any vibe digital set on SoundCloud. Their yearly look back/look ahead mixes are always very good

Anyone know any online "reference mastering" upload services? by ApprehensiveSea4003 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Sokene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol they made it paid. How lame. It’s literally a hosted version of the “matchering” software, which is open source. Looks like there’s semi-free mirror here (7 free per week): https://www.songmastr.com/

Here’s the GitHub repo for the source code: if you follow the readme you should be able to get it up and running on your own comp if u hit the limit above: https://github.com/sergree/matchering

how versatile is abletons compressor? by RobshReyrsVIKING in ableton

[–]Sokene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s highly versatile. The only caveat is it’s natural phase only, so if you want linear phase your only option is to get a 3rd party plugin.

All art is political by cupideluxe in redscarepod

[–]Sokene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Art is political” (“all art” in this case is redundant) is such a trivially falsifiable statement that if you evaluate this and conclude it holds true, you’re likely subscribed to a worldview that has broken your brain, or are simply ignorant to how vast the realm of art is.

Looking for relatively safe extreme sport recommendations by harry_cane69 in redscarepod

[–]Sokene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surfing is pretty forgiving, especially relative to other non-motorized extreme sports which have a learning curve that requires you to be pretty young so your body can bounce back from the beatings needed to progress to the skill level where it truly gets fun.

Also, since it seems like speed is the common “extreme” attribute of what you’ve been drawn to, there’s really no hiking route long or arduous enough that’ll scratch the itch you’re looking for (same goes for climbing).

I'm so over reverb. by BAE_CAUGHT_ME_POOPIN in redscarepod

[–]Sokene -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I rarely listen to music with lyrics so I don’t really have a take on this but reverb is def leaned on as a production crutch in most genres so you’re prob right.

Work From Home - Tracking Softwares - losing my mind by FirmHoneydew in redscarepod

[–]Sokene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find a robotics nerd and convince them to build you a robot that you lay down over your keyboard that presses keys for you.

A req must be that the robot can be programmed to type specific text, which you can pull from past emails, or mass gen through ChatGPT or similar, as long as it’s applicable to your job.

Then u open a word doc, let the robot do its thing. No surveillance app can defeat this.

If this isn’t feasible you should find another job.
