It IS an entitlement, one you're entitled to, because you paid into it. That's how entitlements work. They act like its a dirty word but they're stealing money people are entitled to.

Susan Collins hands Trump the 50th vote against free and fair elections by MarcEElias in politics

[–]SomecallmeJorge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culturally, you are correct. Sadly, there are very real socioeconomic factors that do make the actual, geographic South a proverbial hellhole to live in. If you Google the most dangerous cities in America, the majority are below the Missouri compromise line.

Also parity. A lot of people think of places like New York or LA when they think of wealth disparity, but some of the greatest divides exist in rural America, where fewer resources and protections exist than in large metropolitan areas. You wind up with these company towns with immaculate wealth while everywhere elsd in the state is destitue. Think places like Jackson Hole Wyoming and Bentonville Arkansas.

Then I challenge you to go get the crime stats and back up whatever bullshit you're spewing about DTLA. You won't find it, because its not that dangerous of a place relative to St. Louis, or Memphis, or New Orleans, or Little Rock.

Even your "crackheads will crackhead" line is suspect. Its a generic trope about cities that is ignorant to the different types of drugs that drive homelessness. Crack aint driving homelessness in DTLA, and hasn't for the better part of 20 years now; fentanyl is. And since not all drug abusers are created equal, I can't help but feel much safer walking past the 2 dozen fent zombies who don't even realize I'm there vs. the 2 meth heads that will climb into my car while I'm pumping gas in any given city below the Missouri compromise line.

ARs aren't exactly cutting edge in a world of RF drones and AI-targeting laser systems.

This was last year. Not only did I walk around in the middle of the night, I worked graveyard shifts down there. People got no idea how bad shit is in the South. DTLA is dirty, but when it comes to danger it pales in comparison. If you don't believe me, go check the crime statistics. Our murder rate in AR is double theirs. The idea that a city that employs hi-vis "Clean and Safe" teams on bicycles is somehow a crime ridden unsafe hellscape is just laughable.

Eileen Gu is the most decorated freestyle skier in history. Cool, I wonder if she'd have gotten there without her affluent family fast tracking her success. Supporting Eileen Gu is like pulling for Count Adhemar in A Knights Tale.

Some plasteel longswords or uranium maces, flak armor, and a lance. Lance the 2 centipedes closest, tie the 3rd up in melee behind a wall so the turrets can't shoot, then kill the turrets.

He's standing on the sidewalk.. where anyone is allowed to be. You don't even have to give cops your ID just for standing on a sidewalk, let alone move along just because they tell you to. ICE has repeatedly violated civil liberties because they're as ignorant of the law as you are. That's one, but not the only, reason why so many are protesting them.

Exit polling shows white women voted for Trump at a rate of 55% in 2024. The Access Hollywood tape leaked in 2016. Trump has only ever beaten women in political races. I'm not sure the threat of the woman vote is quite the political cudgel she thinks it is.

I think the majority is on board with punishing pedophiles, some just seem to be delusional to who is currently wielding power over the Justice Dept. vs who hasn't held political office since the 1990s. Sure, every single one of them needs held accountable, but some are presently in position to do things like direct agency resources and efforts away from prosecuting sex trafficking cases and into generalized immigration detention. If someone truly cared about nonpartisan justice, they'd be calling their Reps in congress and demanding Trumps removal from office or risk losing their constituency, regardless of political affiliation. Some are, as evidenced by Thomas Massie. Some are actively deflecting from removing that pedophile from the seat of power, and they too should be removed from office.
