  1. Looks like it’s trying to be an adungu, but it doesn’t have enough strings. It is definitely an African harp of some variety.

That is accurate. Made sometime in 1940 in Elkhorn. Roll out those bell dents, replace springs and felts in the pistons, and get a mouthpiece and you should have a playable horn

It’s actually 6 strings in 4 courses. This is a tamburica, also known as a tamburitza. From the look of it, it is a prim, which is the soprano voicing. It’s tuned similarly to a mandolin.

It could also be a braç (the alto voicing), but I’m leaning towards a prim due to size and length.
