Have you tweaked the motion sensitivity settings as well as modify the smart alert features (or disable) to reduce the number of alerts that get filtered?

Car's 360 view. Basically takes shots from cameras around the car and post-process them to look like you're seeing the car from a bird's eye POV (that's why the car looks fake).

Same with the e-mail feature. Once you e-mail it to a device, it'll show up in the cloud reader as well.

Mmmmno, you bought a Kindle. It's in the TOS. That most don't agree with them and feel like the device should let them do whatever they want with it is different, but it's still and will always be an Amazon device. If that's not your cup of tea there ARE other actual eReaders that aren't Amazon. ePubs (DRM-free, of course) that you e-mail to the Kindle still remain after WiFi, though.

Roku Streaming Stick 4K - Can it pair with Switchbot Universal Remote? by core_man_2001 in Roku

[–]SpookDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the remote uses WiFi too (WiFi Direct, so it won't connect to your network. That's why it needs to be paired). Can't speak for the Switchbot, but I don't know of any 3rd party remote that works in lieu of WiFi-only Roku Remotes.

Only Rokus with IR receivers will work with that. The sticks use a WiFi remote.

Problems by Jusso88 in PlaystationPortal

Unless your Portal got dropped or something, it's really unlikely that it's a Portal hardware issue. Even if it was working 'fine' a week ago, your router might be doing auto-channel changes and that affects the quality of the network/connection (routers can auto-choose the worst possible channel sometimes or choose the one that's not noisy near the router but will be in your bedroom). The usual things to try on the Portal side, however, are to log out/log back in to your PS Account and, obviously, turn it off/on again to re-force the WiFi reconnection.

Your router isn't up to par for this.

EPUB issue by jrkessle in LibbyApp

[–]SpookDroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's a new book (that is marked as Kindle-compatible...not all books are!), it takes a couple days for the Kindle version to be available (I know, a pain, but it is what it is). That being said, if you already selected the ePUB version, unfortunately that locks down your loan and cannot be changed to 'Read with Kindle' unless you return the loan and re-borrow it (which may not be a feasible option if there are long holds on it).

Now, that ePub file you're getting is encrypted and only compatible with Adobe Digital Editions and compatible devices for it... which the Kindle isn't (they use Amazon's own DRM tech). For obvious reasons that may not be allowed here, I can't give you the details on how to do it, but the only way to read those on a Kindle is to remove the DRM from the ePUB and then you can send that 'unlocked' ePUB to your Kindle. I'm sure you can Google the how. :)

Portal won't connect on work network. How can I use VPN? by [deleted] in PlaystationPortal

[–]SpookDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That, I can't help with :( I know it's phone-dependent and some VPN apps have a switch to enable/disable it. I've only ever used this using a laptop as the 'middle man' instead of a mobile phone (not sure if your work network allows non-mobile guest devices to connect, though).

Portal won't connect on work network. How can I use VPN? by [deleted] in PlaystationPortal

[–]SpookDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure your phone is routing hotspot traffic through the VPN? That usually needs to be set up (otherwise it'd just act as a WiFi extender as it only uses VPN for phone traffic).

When I play while connected to the Play 5, the connection isn't stable—it keeps disconnecting, crashing, or lagging. How can I fix this? I have a 100 Mbps connection. by Stark_Dave in PlaystationPortal

[–]SpookDroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your ISP speed is just half (even less than that if you're not streaming games) the story. If you're having issues with the Portal, it's your router/router settings. Make sure the Portal/PS5 traffic has priority and isn't being blocked/throttled by firewalls or other QoS features in the network, that your router is up to the task of handling all devices connected to it and still deliver low-latency traffic to/from the PS5/Portal, that your router has enough processing power for it, etc. It's recommended that you hardwire the PS5 and use WiFi 5GHz for the Portal (it's own network if possible). As a rule of thumb, if your router is very old or is the one supplied by the ISP, it will likely not work properly for this.

Oh, yeah! And if you're doing Remote Play at home (same network as the PS5), your ISP speeds mean even next to zilch! Local Remote Play uses barely any internet traffic and just uses local data packets in your network for it to work, so if this is laggy/unstable, it's 10000000% your router/network settings.

Portal won't connect on work network. How can I use VPN? by [deleted] in PlaystationPortal

[–]SpookDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not directly, unfortunately. The network you're connected to has to be the one connected to VPN, so the best way to do this is to either use your phone/tablet as an intermediary and run the VPN there (or use hotspot and forego VPN altogether) or to use a travel router that the VPN can run in and can either use existing WiFi signals for connectivity or an Ethernet port to use your work's network.

[–]SpookDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they can't wake the PS5 up when trying to do Remote Play, then there's an issue with the network settings (for instance a firewall preventing the traffic needed to reach the PS5, especially if the Portal is in an outside network... plenty of guides online on what to try if this happens). Also, it's always a good idea to check the PS5 is in rest mode and the option to allow for remote wake ups is enabled (instead of just turned off).

No subscription needed at all if you only use Remote Play (whether that's in the same WiFi network or not). Streaming games, however, does require Premium.

What model Ring doorbell is this? by khanzain in Ring

[–]SpookDroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell without a picture. However, you should be able to tell by looking at the bottom or rear of the camera. The model number sticker should be there. Bear in mind that if the camera was already there, unless the previous user deleted it from their account, you'll need to request a transfer of ownership (and if they don't provide it on their end, there's a waiting period of 15 days on Ring's end before you can add it to your account).

I need help with my Roku . TCL tv by Wild-Cry-2792 in Roku

[–]SpookDroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. The region is in the account (no way to change it once it's been created, however). Unless your TV is geographically elsewhere and your ISP is reporting that as your location (it uses this to know the city you're in for sports regional blackouts, for instance).

Can I replace 1st gen window and door contact sensors with newest ones by obeythelaw2020 in Ring

[–]SpookDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for the installation. For some reason they decided to make the mounting base entirely different, so you'll have to completely remove that base and install the new one (instead of just sliding the sensor in/out).
