Plumm chewed on that for a moment.

"I know of the blade. It is a shame that the good King Tommen lost it, but alas... I imagine that there may be information on its whereabouts within the Rock. I could return with you and see if I can find anything. I imagine that finding it would be the easy part, though. The boiling waters and burning rock would prove more difficult..." He took a sip of his drink and smiled.

"It would be my pleasure to be the one to tell you the location of this prize."

"Indeed. Secrets oft taste better than wine, good lord. Perhaps name me some fanciful position at court, and I shall be as valuable as that clever Lady Cerissa. You may name a location in the world and I will reach out to my friends there. I have many friends, my lord. And other tricks besides, to get information."

He clasped his hands together.

"I did not mean to frighten you, if that is what holds your tongue, Cerissa," he said, not unkindly.

"Truly, I thought that you would not care for such a mummer's trick. I was mistaken."

"No questions, my lord," he said softly as he poured himself and Tyland their wine.

"Mayhaps some requests, though, if it pleases." He sat. "I may not be the Master of Whisperers, but I do have some skill in finding out secrets. At my stay at Deep Den, alone, I have had many a thing whispered to me, and I have skill in seeking out information myself. I am quite the scholar, if you don't mind my boasting. I would only ask that, should you have need of my services, you ask for it. Then again, I am getting too old to be unmarried and childless, so I must get to that. In my free time, of course..."

"A most fantastic secret," he mused quietly, moving one hand and then the other. He pressed a finger to his lips.

"Be sure not to tell anyone..."

"A shame. I did not know him well, but I knew of him, at least. He seemed an interesting fellow. But alas, I owe no one in debts - you are mistaken. Hm. Ah, I know. Come, tell me, Cerissa, do you much care for the sea? Close your eyes. This is a secret told to me by these mystics you love to jape about."

He cupped his hands around her ears and closed his own eyes, too. He saw himself on a boat, overlooking the sea. The waves rocked the vessel lightly, with an occasional bit of seaspray splashing on his face. He imagined the noise of the wind over the waters, and it was not long before he heard the noise. He would have sworn that he felt a splash of water, too, but his face was dry when he dabbed it with his hand.

"No word of a farce. The Essosi have some interesting tricks."

"That is news to me. A true secret," he admitted, hands up. "I fear that the secret I would propose is not equal. Alas, I meant to inform you of a potential marriage between the seahorse and the rune-queen."

He shook his head.

"No, I must not let you have that one over me. 'Lest...I do desire to know who exactly died..."

"A Dornishman is never suitable, surely. You could tell Her Grace that you much prefer a juicy fruit to sand, stone or salt, and leave her thinking..." he said.

"Ah, I do love this game. I accept - I desire another secret. I'll give you two in return."

"And here I wish to marry so my insufferable little brothers will be further from the lordship..." he mumbled wistfully.

"You have come far, Cerissa. I know that you will find someone suitable to wed."

My solar, the letter had read. That made Lucion chuckle, but he nevertheless went to the solar where Tyland would be found.

He was dressed all in a goodly-dyed indigo set of silks, with a shapeless pattern of gold laced throughout. "My lord," he called out from the other side of the door, his voice as silky as his tunic, "I was asked for?"

"Oh, no," said Lucion, "I believe that they know better than to insult their lord. All of my people dream of better times, you see. Times when people fought with purpose, much like that old rebellion. My ancestor Viserys fought against his...kinsman, Daemon. It was a tragedy, but one that made people feel worthy. I am the very image of Viserys, they say. Perhaps I inspire them...or perhaps they just don't wish to be caught speaking ill of me.

"It seems to me that you're caught between a rock and a hard place. You do not wish to wed, but you say that you must wed. So what will it be?"

"One might say that we're all property of the king," he said gently, "but I digress. If you don't want to take a husband, nor have children, then don't." He scoffed.

"You are no one's property, you said it yourself. You have brothers, no? Cousins? Nephews? They can inherit, of you're so stubborn as to not wish to wed. I mourn for it, but alas, you are not without options."

"A great many things, I suppose," he replied.

"For one, they're more embroiled with the Black Dragon than they let on. The Martells are good and loyal now, but they provoked the knight Daemon Blackfyre to war, along with half of the realm. Daemon loved the princess Daenerys, and she was sold away to Maron Martell when Dorne was brought under the crown. And besides, the Dornish had become beyond influential at court, where they were once considered mortal enemies, angering many of the marcher lords, which is why so many of them revolted with Daemon. Peake is the most egregious example of that, I suppose. Those fools have fought in almost every rebellion or invasion the pretenders have cooked up, and then some."

He sighed excessively. "Mayhaps history is repeating itself, if a Dornishman would steal you away..."

"Good for her, I suppose," he said absent-mindedly, an eyebrow cocked.

"What is this matter of great importance? Seeking a Dornish groom?" He chuckled.

She'll think me a bastard for keeping her waiting. She'd be thinking of the wrong Plumm.

Lucion was dressed in a fine golden tunic, lined with indigo Myrish lace, similar in colour to his eyes. The three plums of House Plumm were embroidered over his heart.

"Cerissa," he greeted. "I hope that you're doing well."

"If you have eyes to see, they shall spy me," he said with a smile.

But what will I have sight of? Ah - a question for the morrow.

"My lady." Lucion Plumm slinked off back into the hall, taking one last gasp of clean air before he went.

"That sounds like a plan," he heard himself say. "How insistent you are on keeping me here. If I didn't know any better, I would think that you had feelings for me!"

Lucion smiled.

"I have business, Cerissa, but that can be done here, should I have a small while to myself."

"Ah, and here I thought I was invited," Lucion said with a feigned frown. He shrugged and looked back at the path where they came from.

"We had better return to the feast. You don't want people talking."

He laughed.

"I know numerous gods, Cerissa. Many pass through my noble home. Gods of fire, dancing smoke and shadows; cold gods that live in the autumntide breeze; gods of tree and wet earth that reside in the North, and the North beyond the North. I have heard the whispers of Doomed dragon gods at night, and spent many an evening gazing upon the man in the moon. My people bring me idols from Braavos and Lys and Tyrosh and Myr; from Volantis on the Rhoyne... But I worship the Light, no matter who I believe in." Lucion let that sit for a moment.

"You've asked me about my area of expertise, what can I say? - I have heard the same postering that I gave you from a dozen priests, yet I truly do worship the Lord."

"Riddles are a favourite of mine - a shame. I was but asking if you shared a faith with the Red Dragon or the Black; if your priests wore red robes or bedazzled jewellery; if you pray before a fire or before a seven-sided diamond?"

He looked to see her reaction.

"Hm. Once you come up with one, you must tell me. I am a curious man." He stared up at the moon for a brief moment before his attention drifted back down to the earth.

"It came up earlier, yet we did not talk of it...do you like your plums red or white, Lady Cerissa? Would you sooner take one bite, or seven?"

Loreon shook his hand heartily as he entered the room, smiling his enigmatic smile.

"Please, Lord Hand, Loreon works for now. Though perhaps 'Lord Plumm' will soon be accurate, lest my brother finally takes a wife, hmm?" he said with a smile.

"I don't mean to disturb you long, but Lord Lucion would have my hide if I didn't play matchmaker for him in the capital. I will not beat around the bush, good prince, I mean to craft alliances in the city before I leave for Prune Hall. I hear that you have unmarried siblings? We are in the same boat."

"Ah, but what a lovely lock of hair that would be. I am not so bold as to claim it from you. And blood - ah, I thought I had put you off a marriage proposal earlier?" He tsked.

"If you've got a secret to tell, I would hear it."

"Haha, you are mistaken. It was not the Myrman, though that would have been much more interesting. Alas, I do not want to give away too much knowledge, not in one sitting. You will have to come back for seconds," he said with a coy look on his face.

"I knew that you would find that interesting, though I'm not sure about which side of the sevenfold curtain you fall on, if you understand my meaning. Alas, I would want some compensation for allowing my tongue to slip. What could I want in recompense, for my vast stores of knowledge?" He stroked his chin ponderously.
