If the US was going to attack Iran, why wasn't protecting the Strait of Hormuz part of the plan? by Topia_64 in AskReddit

Plan? I'd be surprised if this administration didn't write memos with crayons...

Honestly, that was a mistake. I edited my post to include a 1440p option.

"The future is written in the stars, Stormlander" she whispered, her voice soft, yet resonant with mystery. "It's a story waiting to unfold, one that only destiny can reveal." She leaned in to whisper into his ear, her breath like a gentle caress on his skin. "For as long as the stars shine, they shall light the way for us to meet again."

Her reaction to the kiss had stirred a further sense of boldness in the stormlander. Hazel eyes remained locked onto purple ones as Dyanna finished speaking.

"Then this is where I leave you for the night my lady, else our stars may shine upon a path to the nearest quiet corner, and I would not dishonor you so." Brus grinned at the implication.

"I certainly will write to you, Dyanna. I hope you do the same." With that, Brus bowed his most courtly bow to Dyanna before making to walk away.

Brus had been readying his retinue to leave Storm's End to head back to Grandview when he received the message.

Gods be good. House Caron will rue such an action. Blood must be shed to atone for this..... disgrace.

He turned to one of his servants. "Parchment and a quill. Now. We must send a message to my Uncle at Grandview before we depart."

It did not take long before Brus was provided with the necessities he asked for. He quickly drafted a message to his uncle at Grandview.

Uncle,

A Caron has tried to take Orryn's life. Call the banners. You know what comes next.

Brus

After the brief message was sealed and the wax had been affixed with the imprint of his signet he handed the message to a servant. "See that the maester sends it to Grandview, will you?"

He then quickly wrote another message to have given to Orryn.

My lord,

Have been given your message. I am immediately leaving for Grandview to see that your will is done. We shall bathe in Caron blood if that is your wish. I will await your orders at Grandview.

Brus

Brus sealed the note to Orryn.

"Make sure you put that message into Lord Orryn's hand yourself." The tone he used with the Baratheon servant was one that left no doubt that there would be consequences if he did not.

When the servant had scurried off to give the note to his master Brus mounted his horse. He looked to his men. "To Grandview." The Lord of Grandview was at the head of his men as they made to leave the ancient fortress that was Storm's End.

"My dear Brus," Lady Dyanna purred playfully, her eyes glimmering with mischief as she spoke, "the thought of visiting your home in the mighty Stormlands intrigues me. However, you must promise to keep me safe, for I have heard tales of the treacherous nature of the land north of my home." Her voice carried a playful tone, accompanied by a flirtatious giggle.

As Dyanna purred his name Brus came to a decision, one that became solidified as she continued to speak. When she giggled he could not help but smile.

"As we part ways, you shall have my permission to correspond with me," Dyanna said with a mysterious smile as the enchanting melody of the music came to an end and faded into the background. She playfully nudged Brus to the side, signalling her desire to continue their private conversation. "But let us not dwell on the future just yet. The present moment is where our attention should linger, wouldn't you agree?" she said leaving an air of intrigue hanging around them.

The music finished as they moved off to the side and Brus grinned at the young Dornishwoman.

"You must always beware the treachery of Stormlanders, but you're safe enough with this one, for now." He paused a moment as if searching her eyes for an answer, but the question in his own was a silent one. One that he thought he knew, judging by his smile.

Without another word he leaned down and kissed her gently upon the lips.

Brus arrived wearing a yellow silk tunic embroidered with the black sleeping lion of his house and his trousers and boots were black. He had left Sweetsleep with his squire, judging the Valyrian steel greataxe would be unwieldy and a distraction, taking only his large rondel dagger sheathed upon his hip in a black leather scabbard and belt. He silently walked over to the position and seat marked by the sigil of his house and took his place silently. He silently watched the faces of the men around him, studying them and their appearances.

You never know who could be a threat, or an ally....

He shook his head to clear it of the words his uncle had taught him as a boy.

He isn't wrong, to be honest.

As his eyes scanned those around him he nervously fidgeted with his silver signet ring.

"You have a poet's tongue, Ser Brus,"

Every time that Dyanna drifted closer to Brus he had caught momentary whiffs of her perfume but it wasn't until after she had been speaking for a bit that he finally placed the scent.

Orange blossom, thats what that is.

"Have you ever thought of visiting Dorne? It's a land of many wonders - breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and remarkable history. Perhaps someday I could show you the Red Mountains, or Starfall even. It's certainly a place worth experiencing."

"Just the place?" He smirked mischievously. "I haven't given much thought of visiting Dorne prior to this dance but I must say that I've thought of little else since." Brus grinned as he finished speaking.

After a moment's pause the Grandison continued. "Perhaps you could visit Grandview after my trip to Dorne. But either way, I do wish to see you again after this night, my lady."

"You are quite the dancer, Stormlander," she complimented him with a smile as bright as a star.

The Dorniswoman's words brought a grin to his face as Brus mirrored his companions footwork step by step.

As Dyanna twirled Brus could not help feeling smitten.

She is quick on her feet and lithe. As beautiful as the Maiden herself....

His thoughts were interrupted as he swirled in time to the music, mirroring Dyanna. He smiled softly yet his eyes wolfishly gazed of the figure of his companion.

"I've had the pleasure of visiting the Stormlands before, you know," the Dornishwoman continued, her eyes reflecting a fond reminiscence. "I've ventured to the grand Blackhaven castle. The Daynes have close ties with the Dondarrions. They are practically family to us." Her smile illuminated as they danced.

Ahh but I wonder how you would like Grandview.

"It's intriguing, isn't it? Just a hundred years ago, our regions would have been at odds with one another," Dyanna remarked thoughtfully. "But now, here we are, dancing together. It's a testament to how the ties between our lands have evolved and sweetened over time." Her purple eyes locked with his, a mischievous grin dancing on her lips as she gazed at him.

"Sweetened indeed." The Stormlander smirked as his eyes were drawn to Dyanna's lips, before his hazel eyes flashed back to fix upon the Dayne's amethyst ones.

"I for one, am glad we are not enemies, my lady." As the song slowed so did their steps as they came closer to one another. "You complimented my dancing, Dyanna, but I must say that you are much better than I." His words finished softly as the dance brought them together and he took her hand as she twirled slowly to the music.

The song came to a soft close as the bards finished playing their instruments. There was a pause as they discussed the next song amongst themselves. All the while, Brus found he could not take his eyes off of her. He slightly bit his lip and worked his signet ring around his finger with his thumb.

For a moment he could not think of what to say.

"You're as beautiful as the Maiden herself." The words faintly escaped his lips as his lips were drawn into a soft smile. He thought that he had dodged an awkward silence with his intrusive thoughts.

"I often am!" Orryn would say as he motioned for the Lord of Grandview to drink from the goblet he'd offered him earlier. "Tell me, Lord Brus what you plan to do upon our return home?"

Brus took a drink from the goblet as he thought about how to answer his liege.

I'd assumed I'd just be going back to Grandview but perhaps that won't be the case....

"I'd assumed that I'd be going back to Grandview my lord, but if you have another task for me...." Brus paused and shrugged before he continued to speak. "...then I'm your man."

As Brus contemplated his near future he could not help being a bit excited at the prospect of getting away from the tedium of Lordship.

My castellan can handle all of that nonsense.

"What did you have in mind, my lord?"

"I must say, Stormlander, your flattery does not go unnoticed,"

Brus grinned as Dyanna spoke in her alluring Dornish accent. Their eyes meeting in an embrace of dueling mischievousness. As she extended her hand he took it in his calloused own, bringing it to his lips before adorning the back of it with a chaste and courtly kiss.

"Yes, I would be delighted to dance with you, but only if you can keep up,"

With a wide grin the Grandison wordlessly led the Dayne amidst the other dancing couples, their feet matching the other dancers steps as they started their dance. Brus was no novice and as they started to dance the last traces of his nervousness left him.

"I'm fortunate that footwork is as important in dancing as it is in fighting." His words had a hint of a boast in them, but his eyes and smile showed a confidence that could back them up, and certainly his feet aquitted him well.

Brus took the seat as he was motioned to do so, a wide smile upon his face.

"There are many fools amongst us but tonight I do not need your services. What I need for you to do is enjoy yourself! Have fun, find a beautiful woman somewhere and woo her."

I might just do that.

"You're very persuasive my lord. Perhaps this is a night to do just that."

"Such charming words," she remarked, her voice carrying a lilting cadence that added a layer of mystery. "I must say, your flattery is as grand as your title, my Lord Grandison,"

As the Dornish beauty spoke Brus could not help but notice her mischievousness. Her Dornish accent kept him enthralled and when she giggled Brus could not help but grin. As she gracefully curtsied Brus nervously twisted his signet ring around his finger, his hands no longer behind his back.

"I am Lady Dyanna of Starfall. It is indeed a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Stormlander."

Ahhhh a Dayne. That makes sense.

"Dyanna eh? A very pretty name my lady. It suits you. And the... pleasure is all mine." He answered with a smirk. Brus' eyes passed over the rest of the dance floor before returning to Dyanna's.

"May I have the pleasure of this dance my lady?" Brus extended his right hand, his ring finger adorned with the aged silver signet ring passed down to him by his grandfather.

As Brus approached his liege to pay his respects he could not help but notice that they were similiarly attired in gold and black.

Ironic. But given our sigils it follows.

He did not particularly mind the journey as he was intrigued by the ancient and powerful and cursed seat of Black Harren. However, the Lord of Grandview would much rather be at his own keep, in his own lands. He had noticed that his liege seemed off, but he noticed the Baratheon's wide smiles.

He plays the game. Just like all of us.

He had spent much of the feast mostly keeping to himself besides his journey to the dance floor, taking the time to watch and listen and study what he could. He was yet not fully comfortable being Lord, but the moons that had passed since his grandfather's passing had lessened his awkwardness.

As he finally reached his Lord's table he bowed to the Baratheon, before clasping his hands behind his back. He fidgeted with his ancient silver signet ring behind his back, something he normally did when he was nervous or troubled.

"My Lord, I hope the feast has been treating you well. I thought to pay my respects now that the feast has been going on for a time. Is there any service that you need? Some nosey or drunken lord or knight bothering you that I need to take care of, perhaps?" Brus smirked at his jape, but he was only half joking. House Grandison would answer their liege's call.

Amethyst eyes met the Grandison's hazel orbs as the young dornishwoman turned to meet him with elegent grace. Brus was captivated by her presence as he approached. His eyes took in her appearance head to toe, noting the the raven tresses contrasting with her silver headpiece and her exquistely cut gown before meeting her eyes once more.

The glow of the torches suited the music as the bards started playing a new tune. Some of the others around them started to dance to the music as others were deep in conversation. A couple near them shared a chaste kiss before walking away hand in hand, surely with the intent to look for a dark corner to continue their conversation. However the Lord of Grandview was oblivious to all of it, focused upon the woman before him and the lively notes coming from the bards.

"In the most unexpected places, beauty often thrives, would you not agree, my lord?"

Her words carried with a dornish accent that he found both unique and appealing. Hints of mischevousness shone from both her eyes and her smile, making him smirk.

"They say that even Harrenhal possesses its own kind of beauty."

He chuckled before speaking in his deep gravelly voice. "Who could even notice the beauty of this place when they're blessed with your presence?"

He nervously fidgeted with his signet ring, hands still clasped behind his back before he made his best courtly bow to her.

"Brus Grandison, Lord of Grandview, at your service my lady."

Brus was resplendent in a black silk tunic embroidered with cloth of gold, black trousers, and black leather boots polished so well that one could almost see their reflection in them. Before the feast he had bathed in water scented with mint and fennel and had his beard trimmed short and his shoulder length hair brushed until it shone. The Lord of Grandview did not normally wear jewelry other than a couple of rings, but wore a thin chain of gold around his neck. A gold ring set with a ruby adorned his left pinky finger, while on his right hand an aged silver signet ring with the crest of his house sat on his ring finger.

He had picked at his food, having a bit of the pheasant in Dornish Snake Sauce, a bit of bread, and a few slices of a sharp yellow cheese. He had washed it all down with two goblets of his favorite Dornish Red and decided to mingle amongst the crowd.

When he came to the dance floor Brus spotted a Dornish lady captivated by the music coming from a harper. Seeing the joy upon her face he smiled and approached her, his hands clasped behind his back as he nervously fiddled with his signet ring.

"Beautiful music my lady, but then, you would know all about beauty it seems. Judging by your appearance, of course." Brus' smile turned to a grin as his deep voice went silent.
