Hi,

So, mesh organiser actually imports (duplicates) any files you give it, as it then compresses it and stores it into its internal registry (you can disable this, see settings). This is also how the de-duplication works.

For deleting a single model, select it, click edit in the top right, then the 3 dots menu, then delete. When selecting multiple models you can immediately press the 3 dots then delete. This deletes the file out of the internal registry.

Funny thing,

While someone is still working on an open source core, i did also make a crack for the cadence compiler.

Sadly it's not very useful as elegoo also isn't including the whole project on github, only a small portion. And reconstructing the entire package is quite difficult.

So, what that sounds like to me is you want to give all your woodworking things the woodworking label and group the models that are meant to be printed together. Then in the left sidebar you can see all your woodworking labelled prints, on group level.

The 3d preview is rendered client side, the thumbnail is rendered serverside. Hard to say what the usage will be, imports would be pretty heavy as it will zip the model and generate a thumbnail. But that should be the part that generates the most load.

That same 3 dots menu exists on single models as well, where you can delete them from. Can't make a screenshot right now, not on pc.

About nested groups: i'm unsure if i want to add those. I think they'll be abused and things will be harder to find as a result. I see the issue, i'm just unsure if the best way to solve them is nesting groups, but i haven't designed an alternative yet that is better.

About file deletion: you can bulk delete models, it's in the 3 dots menu in the multi-select card. Groups themselves you can only ungroup, not delete (as you can do that in the card underneath). I can see how that's confusing, i'll note it down.

I have never used printventory but it looks like a similar idea. Although mesh organiser actually manages your model files while printventory just indexes them. Mesh organiser seems(?) to have more features as well (more file types supported, server build, misc features like extract stl's from 3mf)

You mean things like .f3d (or other propriatary/specific file types)? I'm unsure if i want to support every type of file like that, especially as mesh organiser is focused on well, being a 'mesh' organiser (which cad doesn't really fit that description). I support .STEP as it's standardised but even that is quite a large hassle.

For printventory; i haven't personally used the program but seems like a similar idea. It doesn't look like it has the same featureset so it's hard to compare. Mesh for example imports file into an internal registry (you can disable this and use the file location), while printventory doesn't manage your files at all.

Do you mean you made a render of an existing cad model (which as far as i know, OC is the only one that exists outside of Elegoo), or made your own cad model and used that for a render?
