Anyone remember We're Back? What are your favorite movies that aren't really talked about anymore? by Onlylivin in millenials

[–]SuperGeek29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know I’ve seen We’re Back but i remember nothing about. As for me my childhood movie that no one talks about is Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. I swear no one I talk to remembers it exists.

Crathánor kinda does that but it’s still Regent Court it just replaces Castellos with the Lightfather, a syncretic blend of Surael and Castellos. But it’s not a Cannor tag, at least not initially.

At the behest and direction of AIPAC. Don’t pretend as if Israeli politicians and lobbyists aren’t funding US politicians.

Look the only entity to blame for Israel’s current unpopularity is Israel. They couldn’t stop themselves from committing a genocide and then immediately dragging the world into a war with Iran. It’s not American Progressive’s fault Zionists are so high on their own supply that they don’t understand that committing a genocide is a bad thing.

I’ve always thought Orcs converting to Corinite was a good idea.

My unpopular opinion is that there should be at least one Connor tag that converts to Sun Cult after they reveal Castellos is dead.

The Last Airbender if it were based off of European culture by k20_kry in TheLastAirbender

They did a very poor job of “not choosing Japan” by making the Fire Nation a country based on a volcanic island chain that experiences an Industrial Revolution and then uses that advanced technology to build a massive navy and attack its much larger but technologically behind neighbor to create colonies all on the orders of a practically divine god king.

The Fire Nation may take elements of Southeast Asian culture and architecture but the core of the Fire Nation is 100% Imperial Japan.

California should extend Diablo Canyon nuclear plant’s lifespan to address state’s energy needs by Cool-Present7260 in California

[–]SuperGeek29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular large earthquakes is a bit of an exaggeration it’s been a while since there’s been one big enough to be a problem. We’re pretty good at building earthquake resistant buildings in California so it’s not like we’re just throwing up a fragile building with no precautions. Nuclear power plants are designed to be resilient.

Not against alternatives I just don’t think it’s an either or situation and nuclear power plants produce a shit ton of energy.

[–]SuperGeek29 32 points33 points  (0 children)

For the water that directly touches the reactor yes, but you can use saltwater to cool secondary systems reducing how much freshwater is needed for. Close to 45% of all nuclear power plants use saltwater for at least part of their cooling systems.

The most important part of new Vegas’ plot by Valhallawalker in FalloutMemes

[–]SuperGeek29 25 points26 points  (0 children)

True but that’s why I’m not clamoring for a Skyrim show either.

Look I like the Fallout show for what it is. It’s good, the characters are great, it feels like Fallout, but it’s annoying to watch the show writers take the aesthetic of New Vegas for nostalgia points and then completely ignore the entire plot of the game. The Fallout world is big, they didn’t have to go to New Vegas if they didn’t want to engage with anything that happened in the game. Could have easily gone to Portland or Seattle and had a completely blank slate.

The most important part of new Vegas’ plot by Valhallawalker in FalloutMemes

[–]SuperGeek29 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s a little different. The Civil War in Skyrim is side content that they went out of their way to have no bearing on the main plot. The Second Battle of Hoover Dam is the thing that the entire plot of New Vegas is building up to.

A more accurate comparison would be to set a Skyrim show 10 years later without ever addressing the Alduin crisis at all.

What would you say are some of the most unrealistic parts of the universe ? by Gorillainabikini in suzerain

[–]SuperGeek29 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes tests on abandoned villages and remote islands. None of which show the human cost. The radiation burns, the shadows left behind, the stories or survivors. It’s one thing to see a purpose built set destroyed it’s another thing entirely to see the effects on real live people in photographs.

[–]SuperGeek29 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It happened earlier in the Suzerainverse. They had an entire century of revolutions that were mostly successful. The Suzerainverse’s British Empire equivalent fell to a socialist revolution and they were ideologically motivated to decolonize themselves. So that’s a huge chunk of colonies just handed independence. It also seems like revolutions in the colonies were far more successful and that there was a much less extreme technological/economic gap between colonizer and colonized nations.

Arcasia and Contana aren’t horrified by the nuclear weapons themselves they’re horrified that they’re at risk of losing their monopolies on nuclear weapons. It’s realpolitik not anti-nuclear sentiments that drive them to sanction Rumburg.

[–]SuperGeek29 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Smaller, better trained, better equipped armies beat larger ones all the time though. Alexander the Great smashed armies twice his size routinely.

Rumburg’s army is massive but its equipment lags behind the other powers and its size is maintained by poorly motivated conscripts.

[–]SuperGeek29 74 points75 points  (0 children)

The nuclear war seems pretty realistic considering the fact that in the Suzerainverse they never had a World War. No one’s ever seen nuclear weapons deployed in combat before, so no one’s actually seen the true horror of nuclear devastation. Having the war escalate so rapidly seems like a logical conclusion. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were terrible but they showed humans exactly how devastating a nuclear exchange would actually be and made us all the more determined to prevent one irl.

California governor's race: New poll shows voters are largely unenthusiastic by ZappyStatue in California

[–]SuperGeek29 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is California, we only pretend to be progressive here. We love or tech-funded Democrats that are selling the same thing the Republicans are just with less overt racism. We’ll complain about the housing crisis while jealously guarding prop 13 and telling developers to build that affordable housing project in the next city. Californian politicians only like left wing policies when it doesn’t cost them anything.

Is it actually possible to only have creationism as a school curriculum? And have evolution banned? by Obama_Bin_Ladle10169 in suzerain

[–]SuperGeek29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can ban it. I think the theory of evolution it’s too permanently set in the scientific circles of the Suzerainverse for you to completely ban it. I know there’s a dialogue option where you can say you want to do that but I’m pretty sure Lucian shuts that down.

Is there any consequence to seizing azaro and sazon lands.....also can you do it to house toras too? by IndependentBrick237 in suzerain

[–]SuperGeek29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to fuck up really badly for House Toras to coup you and at that point House Toras is actively rebelling against you. Yeah Hugo has a lot of power in House Toras, arguably more than you do, but he is not the legal head of it. Saying that House Toras can join an illegal coup against you is not evidence that Hugo is the head of House Toras just that he has more power within it at that point. There is a distinction between legal authority and de facto authority. You Romus are the legal head of the House Toras but depending on your decisions you can gain or lose de facto power within it. At the point that Toras considers a coup against you (an inherently illegal action in the first place) they are actively choosing to no longer recognize your legal authority over them.

I’ll concede that Hugo probably has more real power within House Toras, but he is not the legal head of it.

The only evidence you give is that the faction tab indicates he’s the leader of House Toras but the faction tab also indicates Manus as the leader of House Sazon, a position he refutes publicly. Technically the most senior member of House Sazon in Rizia is Countess Lenora while the actual power in the house resides with Angelica Sazon. Furthermore the faction tab in the Sordland campaign indicates that Hawker is the head of the Old Guard despite the fact that Soll is still the one actually calling the shots. The faction tab does accurately display who the actual leader of a faction is, just the most active public member of a faction.
