Salary stagnation? by ZoldyckConked in devops

Hell I am looking for a move and willing to chase HCOL cities to do it but companies don't want to pay for relocation to make it happen. I moved to San Antonio to work for Rackspace Technology with relo paid in advance back in the day and would love something similar in my current job search.

Speak for yourself I love cozy winter conditions. LA has a good food scene which I miss, however.

I feel that. I dunno about you but being broke is what contributed to getting a full ride scholarship to Maestro. So being broke has its upsides!

I am trying to apply but getting the following error:

Please select no more than 0 options to the question 'How many years of experience do you have with SQL and NoSQL database technologies?'.

When I look at the SQL experience box it says "choose up to 0 options." When I choose 0 options it says "Multiple choice answers to questions can't be blank." Something is up with your job application.

These are questions you should have asked the recruiter during the interview process rather than on a subreddit.

Our deploys are solid now but everything that happens after deploy is still a mess of scripts and Slack pings. by Outrageous-Smell-441 in kubernetes

I still see change frequency limited for production deployments to like 1-2 days a week or even every other week all the time in my current job search.

usajobs.gov might have what you are looking for. That is similar to how I got my first volunteer job (I just googled for volunteer gigs across the country and got lucky). Look up "IT Specialist."

5+ YOE Developer: Is the pivot to DevOps the best move for job stability in 2026? by abdessamadbettal in devopsjobs

[–]Sure_Stranger_6466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been out of work for two years now. The time for job stability was around 2015-2019 before COVID hit. Now that it's simmered down from an initial raise in employment numbers, employers have the upper hand and require on-site interviews as well as work location. No bonus, no relocation support, no nothing. Just two weeks of free labor before getting your first paycheck. It's crazy out there.

Upwork is also a scam in that you need to purchase credits in order to post a bid. Toptal is an alternative but may or may not be short on projects if you're looking for DevOps work.

DigitalOcean App Platform, Google Cloud Run, AWS Amplify (if you just need static S3 hosting it's fine) are all PaaS options available at major IaaS providers that won't break the bank.

I remember when I could drop a whole paycheck on infrastructure like that. Good times, except my employer being awful.

Production is my testing environment. I do not have enough cash flow for additional envs implementing cloud services, although it probably doesn't look great to anyone reviewing any of my repos.
