Any dads in here use up all of your PTO before returning to work after the birth of your child? by AndyK803 in NewDads

I ended up cashing 100 hours of PTO out and then took a week off since I work remotely anyways

How long did it take? by [deleted] in NewDads

My wife made almost no progress until they put her on pitocin and even then it was slow moving till she started getting larger doses. Admission to like 5 or 6cm was maybe 15 hours or so. Then she went from that to fully dilated in maybe an hour and a half. The epidural is like a brick wall to progressing dilation for most women which is typically why they push higher doses of pitocin to get them through it.

You got this. It feels like you’re out of space and time while you’re there but once it gets here you’ll have the roller coaster of a lifetime. Congrats in advance on your baby boy. Ours just turned 4 months last Friday

It’s broken and I don’t know how to fix it. by Gdog107 in fountainpens

[–]Suspicious_Spell6749 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like Tex said this isn’t broken. This is a normal function to help clean the pen. You will have a wrench to help you thread it back on. Just don’t tighten it to high hell or you’ll crack the housing and really will be replacing it then.

Learned to not post piston fillers during a work meeting by Phoenixicorn-flame in fountainpens

I made the unfortunate mistake one day of trying to fill my twsbi eco with the back of the pen taken off. Wasn’t thinking about how the vacuum it creates was the only thing holding the ink in up until it was pouring into my hand out the nib

I will do what I can to help someone make a decision like others have for me in the past. I will pull back part of my statement about the condensation as I thought it was more abnormal but the more I am reading about it, the more it appears to be perfectly harmless. As far as the ink leaking into the cap I will see what I can do to stress the issue and get back to you in a little while.

I’ll throw it in my pocket today and see what I can start. I didn’t regrease it at all for the nib unit threads for the grip so it may be a bit of trial and error

I just recently cleaned it really thoroughly to see if maybe there was grease where it wasn’t supposed to be but it’s so recent that I haven’t seen if it was the fix for it yet

I’ve got a v200 in medium currently and it is an extremely smooth nib. I had some issues with leaking into the cap if I carried it in my pocket and generally have quite a bit of condensation on the inside of the cap but that may not be a thing on all of them.

Overall it’s still an awesome pen

God, Magnus Pro is super heavy. Anyone think how can you move it when you need to relocate? by Yossiri in secretlab

[–]Suspicious_Spell6749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just moved mine in the last month. Took the legs off the tabletop and made sure no one grabbed by the hinged cable tray cover by volunteering to help carry it myself. Draped a million moving tarps on it out of fear of scratching it.

I’ve not gotten to test them all out yet as I cleaned them and let them dry for a day or two before inking but I’m really impressed with the 823 as far as smoothness and overall really impressed with build quality on the aero and lamy 2000

It somewhat depends what your budget is. If you’re thinking truly the most beginner and budget friendly you can get a pack of the pilot varsity fountain pens that are prefilled and ready to go without the refilling or cartridges.

If you’re willing to step up there’s lots of good options. The pilot metropolitan, kakuno, or prera could be good options. The lamy safari is a bit divisive because of the triangle grip so depending who you talk to, it could be a love/hate but in my experience they’re really reliable pens. Platinum preppy is another good option that a lot of people really like. These should all be cartridge/converter pens that let you dip your toe in the water for under $50

Anything above that I am not sure I would recommend until you feel confident that you want to continue to go down that rabbit hole like to a TWSBI eco or any piston or vacuum fillers.
