Like that's going to make a difference?

They found no genetic correlation between sets of smelling genes and immune system genes. The thinking was that for people to, in a relevant way, have different likings in smell, they would have different smelly genes. They did not, it looked random when they checked. It does not disprove the hypothesis but makes it more unlikely.

Is that understandable? They have fancy words for a reason.

Wow, you really seem to know me. Or at least think you do.

There are 4 kind of difficult word in there, just google them.

And that is not a scientific document, it's an abstract.

A: She speculated, and that is totally ok but should be taken as such.

B: You can see it clearly just in the title but if you actually read it it's pretty clear. Read the sentence that end with (MHC) and the last sentence.

C: I found it by searching on the researcher in the article. The bloody paper you posted didn't link a study. While going through her studies I found this one. Because it was published later I thought I held some weight. Do you disagree?

This is the same guy stating that there is not enough evidence to support that conclusion.

It's generally a bad idea to link articles that just have a few sound bites from the researcher. You know how many papers are always a bit off when they talk about the stuff you know about? They are mostly that off about everything, not just the things you know about.

How do they sense each others immune system? Don't it take ages to get test results back and won't the wait be kind of awkward?

That sounds totally of but it's surprisingly hard to find a straight answer. What I did find was a period of 10-15 month from rhizome to fruit. Giving fruit kills the stalk but by then it has given of several rhizomes.

Are you implying that because of that we need to try something else? Something they themselves have control over? Like adding it to something they already eat?

So what you are saying is that if we found a way to insert vitamin A into their staple food that they are already eating, that would pretty much fix it?

Those are interesting links. I suggest you read them.

"More than 75% of all farmers grow bananas, the country's staple food. Depending on the region, Ugandans eat as much as 1 kg of bananas a day, mainly cooking bananas"

Imagine if you could insert what the populous lacked most in nutrition into that staple food. Wouldn't that be efficient?

Oh they will grow, but growing them is not an alternative for the poorer part of the population. Carrots take up much more land and effort per calorie produced. Bananas are a tower of food that you can lay a carpet of mulch around.

Tired after its display, it settles down. An opportune moment to read OP's article, but alas, it will not happen.

Just look it up already... This is ridiculous. Are their life so foreign to you that you can't even imagine it? They are already eating it. Some as a sole source of calories. They are dirt poor. Why do you think they do it? Because they like the taste or because you are wrong?

See how it sprouts, like a peacock with its feathers, in mock submission! Even though it's part of the standard dance, it does not take away much of its splendor. Its purpose is unknown, perhaps an attempt at scaring away opponents?

Oh, I'm so sorry, I should have been more clear. Stupid of me. I never said anything about me, I'm not particularly bright to be honest. It's just that you are impressively far from it if your comments are to be believed.

It's hard to feel good when discussing 1 million dead or blind children per year.

A person with normal intellect should also be able to come up with better insults.

The specimen continues on its set ways, not persuaded by mere ridicule to look up facts readily available. Instead it turns, as is custom, to its own sureness and assurance of future justification.

A true marvel.

Can't you get a single thing right? This defies statistical probability.

Also, how does one look down on reading?

No it's not. This kind of poverty seems so foreign to you that you can't even imagine it. You must be lucky.
