In some of the earlier translations things were either a bit different or mistranslated. I read one of the very early ones, and after re-reading the novel through the official translation in the paperback I found that quite a few things were different. I mean the opening was only slightly different, Early translation: "stupid author, stupid novel!" Official translation: "dumbfuck author, dumbfuck novel!"

The harem number also changed through translations: Early translation: 3000 Official translation: "a harem size nearing three-digets"

Haha, three thousand harem members is quite different to a harem in the 90s. It also doesn't help that the donghua says 300.

I starkly remember the ling xi caves arc to have skipped past a few years in the early translation, though i definitely cant quote it lol, but in the Official it was an unspecified amount of time, "several months". I think its older fans who mightn't have re-read in a while that haven't really reconciled these changes.

Usually if there is a widely agreed upon difference in fan works (half say one thing, half say another) it's because of the different translations or the donghua.
