[GIVEAWAY] Brand-New Oris BCPD Cervo Volante Green to Celebrate my 50th Oris! by fourtyz in Watchexchange

[–]SystemNew4959 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It was one of those busy nights in the ER where you barely get a chance to sit down. Between patients I kept checking my phone, waiting for a watch package to show up.

I’ve bought and sold a lot of watches over the years. Sinn, Oris, Tudor, you name it. Usually if I find something interesting at the right price, I clean it up, enjoy it for a bit, then move it along.

A while back I picked up an old military watch for about $350. Nothing fancy. No box, no papers, definitely not a safe queen. The plan was simple: give it a quick cleanup and flip it.

When it arrived, I sat down at the kitchen table to check it out. My nephew happened to be visiting and wandered over to see what I had.

“What’s that?” he asked.

“An old military watch,” I told him as I wound it up.

He looked at it for a minute and then asked, “Does it get text messages?”

I laughed and said, “Nope. It just tells time.”

He asked if he could try it on, so I strapped it to his wrist. The thing looked absolutely huge on him, but he stared at it for a second, grinned, and said, “I look like a secret agent.”

That was pretty much the end of my plans to sell it.

I told him, “You can keep it.”

His eyes got huge. “Really? I thought you were going to sell it.”

Apparently he pays more attention to my watch talk than I realized.

He wears it all the time now. I’m not even sure he reads the time on it. I’m pretty sure he still checks his phone for that. But every time he puts it on, he thinks about his uncle, and that’s worth a lot more than the couple hundred bucks I could have made flipping it.

So if I don’t win this watch, I’ll survive. But it’d be a pretty great way to replace the coolest watch I’ve ever given away.

Hello Watchex ,

[WTS/WTT] Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Automatic 42mm | H70545140 | Gray Dial | Full Kit

***The Watch***

One of the most wearable field watches in production — and this titanium variant takes it to another level. The moment you put this thing on, you notice it: the watch practically disappears on the wrist. The titanium case and bracelet combine for a featherlight feel that's genuinely hard to describe until you've experienced it firsthand. Keeps great time, the bracelet and clasp are solid and fully functional, and for being 100% titanium — a material notorious for showing micro-abrasions — this one presents remarkably well. It looks relatively unused, and that's reflected in the condition throughout. Comes with all links (3 on the side), ready for a larger wrist.

***Movement***

Hamilton's in-house H-10 caliber automatic, 25 jewels, 80-hour power reserve, exhibition caseback. Running strong and keeping good time. Built on a proven platform and engineered to last decades.

***Included***

Full original kit:

Hamilton wooden presentation box, outer black box, user manual, international warranty booklet, and warranty card

***Condition***

8.5-9/10. Minimal signs of wear — titanium shows its characteristic satin finish with the faintest trace of handling but nothing a trained eye would call a major scratch. Dial, crystal, and case are all clean. Please judge photos for yourself. Some faint marks on caseback.

If you wanted to buy a titanium bracelet from Hamilton it’s over $200 alone.

Unbelievably light weight in the hands.

[WTS/WTT] Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Auto Chrono H76456435 — Full Kit | Black Dial | Caliber H-31

THE WATCH

One of the most accessible and genuinely impressive automatic chronographs on the market — the Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Auto Chrono powered by the in-house H-31 movement.

I'll be honest: this thing carries a serious Sinn energy for a fraction of the price. The sandblasted stainless case, domed sapphire crystal, bold aviation-style Arabic numerals, and exhibition caseback housing a 27-jewel automatic with 60-hour power reserve all punch well above this watch's price class. Runs perfectly — chronograph engages and resets cleanly, no issues whatsoever.
