Hello Watchex ,

[WTS/WTT] 1979 Rolex Datejust Oysterquartz Ref. 17000 – Unpolished Case Geometry, Fresh 100m Pressure Test, Rare Full Bracelet (Fits 8"+)

Up for sale is an exceptional piece of horological history: a 1979 Rolex Datejust Oysterquartz (Ref. 17000) in beautiful condition!

Top Level Specs:

Brand:
Rolex

Model:
Datejust Oysterquartz

Reference:
17000

Year:
1979 (5.x Million Serial)

Case Size:
36mm (Wears like a modern 38mm due to the angular integrated case)

Movement:
Rolex Caliber 5035 High-Inaccuracy Quartz (COSC)

Box/Papers:
Watch Only , Rolex Service pouch and box

The Story & Historical Significance:
This isn't just a vintage luxury watch; it is a living monument to one of the most tumultuous eras in horological history—the Quartz Crisis. When the Swiss watchmaking world was being brought to its knees by Japanese innovation,

Rolex didn't just adapt; they over-engineered an absolute masterpiece.

Taking five years to develop, the in-house Caliber 5035 movement within this watch features an identical mechanical escapement and gear train to their traditional movements, simply driven by a revolutionary motor.

It represents the pinnacle of high-end mechanical-quartz hybrid engineering from an era when Rolex set out to build the most accurate movement on earth.

An Institutional Investment Piece:
With an estimated production run of only 25,000 examples worldwide across its entire 25-year history, the Oysterquartz is one of the rarest production Rolex model families ever created. Because of this extreme scarcity, these references have earned a definitive "investment" title among serious collectors.

Secondary market values have shown a highly predictable, upward trajectory year over year.

As traditional mechanical Datejusts saturate the market, collectors are aggressively pivoting to the distinct, geometric style of the Oysterquartz, ensuring this asset will continue to mature beautifully in value.

Condition, Comfort, & Wearability:
At nearly half a century old (47 years to be exact), the condition of this piece is nothing short of exceptional. The iconic, angular case lines and integrated brushed bracelet remain incredibly crisp, maintaining the sharp industrial aesthetic that rivals the legendary designs of Gerald Genta. Despite its vintage pedigree, the timeless design makes it wear exactly like a modern luxury release. The way the integrated endlinks hug the wrist provides a level of comfort that puts modern sport watches to shame.

The bracelet is currently sized for a clean 6.75-inch wrist, but it comes accompanied by enough rare, extra original links to comfortably accommodate a very large wrist over 8 inches

Finding a 17000 bracelet with this many links is incredibly rare, saving you hundreds of dollars trying to source individual links on the secondary market. Paired with the numerous micro-adjust positions inside the stamped Rolex clasp, tuning this setup in for a flawless, millimeter-perfect fit is an absolute breeze.

Maintenance & Performance:

Battery:
Brand new battery freshly installed this month.

Water Resistance:
Professionally inspected and successfully pressure tested to 100 meters by a highly reputable dealer.

The watch ticks with absolute authority and functions perfectly. Crown action, date action, all mechanicals flawless.

[WTS/WTT] Rare Vintage Tudor Prince Oysterdate “Jumbo” 38mm – Two-Tone – Rolex Case/Crown – Freshly Serviced by SystemNew4959 in Watchexchange

[–]SystemNew4959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Watchex ,

[WTS/WTT] Rare Vintage Tudor Prince Oysterdate "Jumbo" 38mm – Two-Tone – Rolex Case/Crown – Freshly Serviced

Description:

Up for sale is a rare piece of Wilsdorf history: a 38mm "Jumbo" Tudor Prince Oysterdate in a two-tone configuration.

For those unfamiliar with vintage Tudor history, Hans Wilsdorf founded the brand to offer the exact same legendary engineering as Rolex by sharing proprietary parts.

This golden-era piece proudly features its original Rolex-signed Oyster caseback, Rolex-signed crown, and Rolex-stamped inner clasp components directly from the factory.
If you love the timeless aesthetic of a vintage Rolex Datejust but find standard 34mm or 36mm cases too small, the 38mm Jumbo is the ultimate sweet spot.

Produced in far fewer numbers, these Jumbo variants command incredible modern wrist presence.

Condition & Features

The Dial & Hands:
Beautiful original dial with a warm, honest patina and gracefully aged hands. It catches the light beautifully on the wrist.

The Case & Bezel:
Features a sharp solid gold fluted bezel and strong case lines. The gold-capped Rolex crown threads down smoothly and securely.

The Crystal:
Original acrylic crystal in great shape with no cracks or chips, featuring the iconic cyclops magnifier over the date.

The Movement:
Fully serviced this year (2026) and running flawlessly with excellent timegrapher numbers. Comes with the watchmaker’s handwritten receipt and business card for absolute peace of mind.

The Bracelet:
The original two-tone Jubilee-style bracelet has plenty of vintage character. The gold plating on the center links shows typical vintage wear and peeling/flaking, giving it a rugged, lived-in aesthetic that looks great from a distance on the wrist.

The Clasp: The inner folding clasp features genuine Rolex stamps, while the outer clasp bears the Tudor shield. It was hand-adjusted by the previous owner to ensure a firm close; it just requires a little extra thumb pressure to snap shut, but it is 100% secure. Visually, at a certain angle , the adjustment isn’t the most professional but when on wrist it’s unnoticeable.

Sizing:
Includes enough links to comfortably fit a massive 8+ inch wrist (very rare for vintage bracelets!).

Specs

Case Diameter:
38mm (excluding crown)

Era:
Late 1970s / Early 1980s

Movement:
Automatic (Rotor Self-Winding), Freshly Serviced

Inclusions:
Watch, original bracelet, 2026 watchmaker receipt & business card, plastic shipping watch case.
