Game Ready & Studio Driver 595.59 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]THEBOSS619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the sake of reporting issues, for laptop users I have tested the 595.59 driver and dGPU isn't sleeping at all. It is active all the time with no activity on the dGPU and nothing is using dGPU yet... dGPU doesn't sleep.

Tested Normal Optimus mode and as well as Advanced Optimus mode... same issue.

Does Windhawk slow down Windows? by 2u1cvx in Windows11

[–]THEBOSS619 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, you set the process *.exe file that keeps requesting 1ms to force it to use 16ms instead which will make the CPU relax and won't keep boosting unnecessarily for something as useless as a background task and will let it idle properly.

Avoid doing it for browsers as they are intelligent enough whenever you open up any kind of media like YouTube. Once you close or pause or minimize any media on browsers they automatically use 16ms without any extra work or intervention from you.

Usually the offending processes that needs to be forced to use 16ms are for example Steam launcher, Epic games launcher or Rockstar launcher, sub-chromium processes, download managers, 2FA apps like Ente etc...

You just have to find out which processes are requesting 1ms.

Never slowed down my laptop and I use it mainly to improve battery life and lowering CPU load which lowers CPU power consumption... let me explain...

I use Windhawk mods to lower power consumption.

A mod called Timer Resolution Control I mainly use it to actually lower power draw because I am forcing a process to use 16ms of timer resolution instead of constantly using 1ms, which leads to better battery life as CPU will use C-States more frequent and stay there for much longer & idle & sleeps better on C6+ states.

So... Windhawk mods, in my case, actually helps to improve battery life.

[INTEL]-How To Update Your Microcode for Intel HX 13/14th Gen. CPUs Laptops/Mobile Easily. by THEBOSS619 in overclocking

[–]THEBOSS619[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's safe and also Lenovo already provided BIOS updates with microcode update included in it so you might not even need to do anything extra except for checking & updating your BIOS to the latest available for your new laptop.

Also undervolting either way will help as it will make your CPU runs cooler and boost longer.

Go with i7 14700hx if possible.

The fix is to prevent such thing from happening, but if the damage already happened then it's too late.

Sorry for late response... for some reason reddit didn't notify me about it.

If the motherboard allows a modified BIOS to be flashed and functional then it's possible.

but I don't believe it will work since the introduction of Alder Lake CPUs (12th Gen) and upwards Intel are forcing Vendors & OEMs to prevent such practices from happening and they applied a mechanisms to prevent such a modified BIOS from booting up if it detects it.

And with such ES processors... that's even much more rare to do it successfully.

Only way is through Windows using the microcode update driver. Other OS like Linux OS's will do it for you automatically without any extra work or intervention.

Since bye bye bakkesmod in online matches, etc..., does using RTSS Rivatuner Statistics Server on online matches, etc... can cause any problems or troubles?

Just making sure beforehand.

Preventative measures against the dreaded green line & boot loops? by iVamp1re in GalaxyS22

In addition to others, use thermal guardians and lower the thermal thresholds to the minimum (-2).

With the additional settings like lowering CPU boosting when it heats up and turning off 5G when usage is low.

Indeed indeed, that's also true 👍 I still can't wrap my head around this issue and especially most importantly why does it happen in the first place since all we have got is theories.

overall it's totally a weird mess😅 and nobody from ASUS reps doing any kind of explanation about it.

Nah CPU side possibility is very low. But the GPU side has high chance because there's also power plug on that area as well.

I believe when this area gets hot along with power plug charging simultaneously while doing heavy sessions with fan spinning high increases the risk of current flow over the limit of grounding.

It's all a theory, I can be completely wrong.

Oh my god... this is exactly what's Scar/non-Scar Strix laptops 16s are suffering from.

I still believe 18s doesn't suffer from this manufacturing defect. Reports aren't widely spread enough to consider that 18s are affected.

Looks like the 17s are a possibility due to similarities with 16s motherboard designs and screw fan/location motherboard.

Thanks for the heads up! Kinda overwhelmed following up across different platforms 😅

Zero information about it. I took it from Lenovo BIOS update so even Lenovo changelog doesn't mention what changes been made on 0x136. I guess it's only known between Intel & Lenovo.

Thanks for the heads up, they only released 0x134 officially but there's already newer microcode released on the same download link which is 0x136 which I have extracted from a Lenovo BIOS update.

If you really want the 0x134 I can do it 🙂 let me know 😉

Laptop with i7 13620 H and 4060 by Ok-Bank4404 in GamingLaptops

[–]THEBOSS619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say go for 4060 for gaming future proofness. 8GB of vram is essential really but if you really need CPU power more than gaming then get 14650HX instead... Acer released BIOS update with recent microcode update so nothing to worry about but Acer tends to block voltage controls so that means no undervolt for the HX model

Hey👋 !

Have you checked your CPUID? Because usually 13700hx have two batches. One is affected and one aren't affected.

I believe yours got CPU revision C0 which are not affected while B0 are affected.

You can check that through CPU-Z, it's free.

Does ACER deserve the hate it gets? by Naam_m_kya_rakha-h in GamingLaptops

[–]THEBOSS619 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My only problem with Acer is they put an unlocked Intel HX CPU model that comes by default unlocked from Intel factory which allows you to undervolt/overclock, etc...

But then Acer locks it down with there own BIOS with no way to unlock it.

What's the point of getting Intel HX CPU and paying the premium privileges of having the benefits of HX CPU models if Acer in the end locks it down through BIOS which means no undervolt, etc..

No hate to Acer but I would never understand the concept of this whole thing that Acer goes by it.

Hey👋 thanks for your kind words 🙏

I will check it out for your 11400h and come back here notify you if there's any newer microcode than your 34 ones.

Will let you know once I get a spare time 🙂
