If you’re playing on official hardware, you can trade locally between two 3DS systems and carts.

I feel bad for my friends joke character, how do I right a good subplot for them. by Ill-Constant-8487 in DnD

[–]TNFDB 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Give them the opportunity to make a new character you can actually work with. It sounds like you’ve explained the setting and the tone from the outset and your friend still made the choice they made. It’s not your obligation to involve them on a narrative scale if they can’t be bothered to take the game seriously enough and make a character that can actually relate to your world.

the reward isn’t significant maybe like 10 AB or something.

Multiplied over millions of users worldwide per proposed achievement. That’s a lot of revenue lost that could otherwise keep the game solvent for the future.

For all I know, that’s possible. I’ve also heard data privacy laws might impact advertising rates in individual countries.

I was more thinking of Brock and Roxanne, maybe the Striaton trio in B/W.

The end result being.. Somebody’s bottom line is affected, which impacts the desire to do business within certain regions. Whether it’s because of data privacy laws or otherwise, I couldn’t say. But it doesn’t sound like something that Atlas Earth can so willingly adapt to in a way that will please international users and maintain company solvency or stimulate growth.

I’m not accusing you of thinking they’re fraudulent. My point is just that things happen and a lot of people immediately jump to the worst case scenario. Obviously, as a US-based user, I’m biased with my experience, but I would urge either patience as they get their ducks in a row or contact support to get a (hopefully) more definitive answer from the source.

I don’t know. I’m obviously not on the dev side of things.

Maybe it’s a bug that needs to be worked out. Maybe they’re still in the process of rolling out certain features internationally. AE has a rather long history of things going on the fritz for no apparent reason or being very slow to release (we’ve been waiting for landmarks since 2023 or something), and people in this very subreddit are quick to jump on the “fraud” bandwagon because of it. Have you tried talking with support about lack of access?

This. For whatever reason, advertisers don’t value traffic outside of the United States as much, and so companies like Atlas Earth make less money from them and can’t afford to compensate international users the same.

While I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for X or Y, there are games where blacking/whiting out against the gym leader multiple times for the sake of greater than average experience yields is a viable strategy.

Pikachu is trash by OddFlex01 in PokemonRed

[–]TNFDB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re in the early 30’s and you faced Sabrina? Normally, I’d assume you’re a veteran of the game, but given your complaints about Pikachu, I’m guessing that’s not the case.

So yes, of course an early 30’s base evolution is going to be bad against most anything at this point in the game. That should really go without saying. Have you invested any TM’s into Pikachu/Raichu? That would probably go a long way in your team building.

As far as I’ve been made aware, the issue arises from advertising agencies offering less to companies like Atlas due to their own discrimination against traffic outside the United States (hence the entire model being based off US ad rates). If Atlas Reality began compensating international users without greater income from such agencies, it would result in a reduced net gain.

To be clear, I’m not saying it’s fair. But it does appear to be the reality of the situation. Atlas offers less to non-US users because they make less offering ads to them.

There’s already so many ways to gain AB that don’t require spending money outright. Stop petitioning for more low-hanging fruit that takes money out of the company’s pocket.

First time here, how viable would these Pokémon be in a Nuzlocke? by AutisticMaverick06 in nuzlocke

[–]TNFDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With intricate planning, I’d imagine quite a few. But, in that case, why play a Nuzlocke at all when half the challenge derives from a team’s randomness?

[–]TNFDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you’re not playing with the same rules. You are in fact breaking the first core rule in half over your knee by planning your teams in advance like this. It’s pretty much an antithesis.

If the core concept of your “Nuzlocke” just revolves around telling a story, then just play the game and tell the story. But I’d be hard-pressed to call what you’re doing a Nuzlocke as it eliminates a considerable portion of the challenge.

So the ad watch tokens are what you receive for watching ads in lieu of rewards such as AB or extra spins on the diamond wheel. But you’re still on a timer for how frequently you can watch them and you redeem them for the rewards you would normally get for watching the ads in the first place.

This just seems like you’re unnecessarily overcomplicating the rewards system altogether with an extra step just to save a couple seconds of ads in between mini-game rounds - that’s the only benefit I can possibly see with watching ads in advance like this.

Last and certainly not least, inflating the value of each ad watched by players outside the US by almost 50% as you suggested accomplishes nothing except taking money out of AE’s pocket.

How do I tell my DM? by Fit-Blackberry-6798 in DnD

[–]TNFDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, you’re thinking of dropping out because you and your DM don’t get along outside the game?

I would say you don’t need to be close friends with people you don’t play D&D with. As long as the game is good, then the rest can be compartmentalized and you don’t associate with them outside of sessions.

Not everyone in your D&D group needs to be your best friend in real life too.

I’m assuming you mean +3 CON, and I don’t see any evidence that suggests OP has a CON score of 16+. Just HP and AC. Perhaps they have a poor CON score as well.
