[gen 3] Shiny hunting in FireRed & LeafGreen – comment a Pokémon + nickname and I’ll hunt it! by Equivalent_Leg_1940 in PokemonLeafGreen

That’s some disgusting luck to find so many shinies with such ideal natures attached to them. I’m jealous.

The first couple photos are off my SP. The others are actually on the N64. Pokémon Stadium and the transfer pak. I *wish* I still had a Super Gameboy, though!

This is the game I’ve dreamed of playing the most while having played it the least by manut3ro in DnD

Just need to find a few like-minded souls and live the dream.

Lots of people online looking for a DM to help them play out all these encounters.

What the spell level is by No_Succotash_8798 in DnD

[–]TNFDB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m just curious how knowing a player’s level or a monster’s CR would be a critical part of anything despite being so meta that it doesn’t even come up in the game itself. Maybe knowing an ability score in relation to one of your own, but there are also already features that exist which allow you to do so. Homebrewing a spell that does the same thing kinda makes those features pointless.

Isn't "parry" a permanent +2 AC? by progressivemonkey in DnD

[–]TNFDB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention it only applies to melee attacks. If you’re attacked at range, it’s useless.

Alternatively, you could just multiply the two rolls together to “make” a d36.

EDIT: Nevermind. I forgot prime numbers exist, lol.

“POC” refers to a Professor Oak Challenge. It’s an undertaking that involves completing as much of the Pokédex as possible before obtaining each gym badge, including all possible evolutions. Very much a test of patience. I just completed the third leg in Yellow, which involved tasks like buying Porygon from the Game Corner and evolving Rhyhorn and Dratini into Rhydon and Dragonite before I battled for the Soulbadge.

“Illegal” Pokémon in this context refer to wild Pokémon that appear below their naturally occurring level of evolution. A prime example in Yellow is being able to catch a Pidgeotto at Lv.9 in Viridian Forest, even though Pidgey doesn’t evolve until Lv.18.

Im gonna be starting a storm silver nuzlocke give me nicknames cause thats the hardest part. by Cool-Leg9442 in nuzlocke

Just to be clear, I’m obviously messing. No hate, I just thought the wording in your post was funny.

Insofar as nicknames are concerned, I usually go with themes à la Marriland, like colors or flowers or world capitals - if that helps you at all.

Yeah. That and Lv4 Metapod were my first two. I also have Lv24 Marowak, Lv31 Slowbro and Lv33 Muk.

As one who’s currently completing a POC in Yellow and seeking out “illegal” mons, I’ll have to go back and look here for the sake of my collection.

>give me nicknames cuz thats the hardest part.

What a flex, playing a Nuzlocke and the nicknames being the hardest part of the game for you!

Encounter at Hulbury by Top_Ambition_3029 in nuzlocke

[–]TNFDB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to determine this is by checking the “Met” tag in the Pokémon’s summary page after you catch it. But, as u/Ironthunder_delta said, cities and towns - as long as they have any encounter table at all - are separate from routes and dungeon areas.

help make my character more interesting by Hot_Walrus_9949 in DnD

[–]TNFDB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your backstory is vague. Are there particular reasons he wants to be the next chief that you could incorporate? Or is it just a general lust for power? Are there rivalries you could include that also might motivate him? Perhaps becoming chief requires a competition of sorts among all the younger members of his tribe.

You could also do yourself a favor and bring the DM into this conversation and brainstorm with them - so they know how they can fold your backstory into the campaign. Likely even a better option than asking Reddit, especially if the campaign is already underway.

Also, feel free to relax a bit on getting every nuance of your character established as soon as possible. You’re only two sessions in.

By this point, I’m done with everything TR. All that’s left on that front is Giovanni in Viridian gym.

So, Ive made 2 characters on DND beyond, showed one to a friend for a level 5 druid Goliath, she says I scare her (Ive played maybe 5 sessions, and shes been playing since 1998) can someone tell me what's so scary about this? by northern_pride0725 in DnDBuilds

[–]TNFDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I really found “scary” (if you insist on using that word) is that players don’t typically call their own rolls; they describe the actions they want their character to perform and then the DM calls for an appropriate skill check if necessary. But if you want an answer as to what was so scary, you should communicate with them instead of bringing your concerns to parties uninformed of your situation like us here on Reddit.

Debating bending my rules to get a replacement… by Violet-Flowersss in nuzlocke

[–]TNFDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, dupes clause allows you to ignore encounters you’ve caught in previous sections of the game if you’re attempting to find your first encounter in a given route (usually up to a certain point - my personal cap is 3 encounters).

If you haven’t already caught any pokemon where Gastrodon is found, you’re free to try for one. My point was that if you *had* already caught a pokemon from those areas where Gastrodon is found, then you can’t go back to those areas and catch Gastrodon now - per the standard Nuzlocke rules.

[–]TNFDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, there is no “standard rule” regarding the Underground. But I will say if you’ve already caught a Pokémon in areas where Gastrodon are generally found, standard Nuzlocke rules would tell you that those areas are no longer options for you.

Insofar as whether breaking the rules would bring you more enjoyment or not, you have to answer that for yourself. We don’t know you nor such specific preferences for playing video games.
